Garage Door Opener?

Do you need a remote to open your garage door or does the RDX have some buttons that you can train to open your garage door?

RDX has the home link buttons that you can have it learn from any garage door opener. works very well and i was able to program it on the way home from the dealer.

Limited Frequency

The home link feature is appropriate to home garages only. It does not work for industrial garage door openers. The feedback I got from Johnson Controls was that they are only licensed to broadcast a certain band of frequency - mostly applicable to home garage doors openers.

Page 253 of the RDX manual gives you the procedures, including what to do if you have some difficulties. Usually the first procedure works fine.

Anyone able to program the home link with an apartment garage door? I am not able to get my home link to work and my sale rep told me it doesn't work with most of the apartment garage remote control. It will be great if someone can share the experience how to get it to work with an apartment remote control. It seem my apartment has those rolling or dynamic code.

WhtRdx09Rock, usually apartments' GDOs use rolling code. In order for the RDX to learn the rolling code you have to press the "train or learn" on the GDO. You can find that button on residencial GDO but not on the commercial because of security purpose.

Weird, I got it programmed to open up my work's gates. I beleive it is an older gate.

I had success with my apartment's garage door opener on my '09 RDX using the procedure where you repeatedly click the transmitter's button while keeping the Homelink button pressed in until the Homelink light flashes.

If all else fails, swing on over to the Homelink site, http://www.homelink.com

There are FAQ's and compatibility lists (tho it should work with any garage door system from 1982-on...)
