Guys, with the engine running and the tranny in Park or Neutral, what happeneds when you press the gas pedal to make the rpm reach 5000? Is there an engine rev limiter that kicks in at 5000rpm?
I don't think that there is a difference, as I understand it, it's there to prevent the engine from going over a certain mark in the RPMs, I don't see why it would be different if the car is moving or not. Also, 5K rpms is doable without the limiter kicking in....
if your car is nuetral and stopped and you rev its not any different then reving it in park. if you are driving and you throw it in nuetral while moving its a different story. that could cause damage.. i use to do nuetral shift revs and also in nuetral run the RPM up real high and shift into drive and killed my tranny in about 2 months from it..

Without going out to a RDX and reving it in neutral, I'm gonna say yes. They did this on the RSX type S as well. If you were in neutral, the rev limiter will cut fuel at 5K RPMs, if you were in gear it would rev to the redline before fuel cut off.

Lol...geeez, I did'nt realize that it would be so hard to get someone to try it in their car!
Thanks for the info black label!
And for everyones info; The RDX has two (2) rev limiters - well actually 3 -
one is a static limiter at 5000rpm (vehicle not moving i.e. in prak or neutral)
The other 2 are during dynamic situations at around 6800rpm region for 'D' & 'S' modes

None of the RDX's I have access to are mine and none of them have completed their break in period. You wouldn't want me revving your car's engine excessively before you bought it would you?

In hindsight I think I was the only one who understood the question. The only time it ever happened to me was in a fresh off the truck TSX and the card board mat that is in them was over the gas peddle holding it down. I started the car and the engine fired up and immediately started bouncing off the rev limiter. Now I check the mat before I turn the key.
Yeah kinda along similar lines, the reason I brought all this up is because on two occasions this year I've encountered instances when the engine would run rough on start-up. When I try to clear it the engine wouldnt pass 2500rpm. Its like I dunno water in the fuel or some thing and after a while it would clear up, hence the reving of the engine and finding the static limit. The prob pisses me off but I dont get a check light or anything and seems/ed to go away so again I dunno. I should really get it scanned to see if anything pops up! If I remember correctly the first time it happened the MPG counter dropped to like 4.7... go figure!

Don't know if this is related, but I have witnessed RDX's run like absolute crap when the battery has low voltage. It almost seems like a turbo issue as the car will barely move but it's all due to a battery with low voltage.
I have no idea if this is tha cause of your problem but it could be a good pace to start looking.

last time i heard of an issue like this was when my neghbour managed to pump diesel in her corolla. had to get the whole engine/fuel tank/fuel lines drained. so im guessing bad gas and this is serious man.
The RDX will not get near the redline stock or flashed while Parked or Neutral. It's just a guess, but I think they don't want to replace or repair warrantied items that can't be proven to be your fault. lol
