Fluid flush intervals 2011 RDX
Fluid flush intervals 2011 RDX
I've searched the user manual for fluid flush intervals but can't find it (other than oil). What are the recommended intervals for changing:
1. Transaxle fluid
2. Transmission fluid
3. Coolant
My apologies if I missed it in the manual - in which case just post a page number.

I handed down my 08 RDX to my daughter back in 2019 and it has +200,000 miles today.
1. sh-awd Transaxle fluid every +/- 30,000 miles
2. Transmission fluid+transfer case every +/- 30,000 miles
3. Coolant just did the coolant at 105,000 & 210,000 mile service
4. P/S fluid 1st time at 100,000 miles and replace the reservoir with fresh fluid when it starts to look dirty.
5. Brake fluid every 3-4 year interval at any mileage traveled
6. Cabin air filter every year
7. Engine air filter every +/- 25,000 miles or around 2-3 year mark
8. Spark plugs every 100,000 miles
9. wipers every 2 years or so (usually UV damage compared to being worn out living in southwest)
10. Rotate/balance tires every oil change (lifetime with Discount Tires)
11. Alignment with new tires, suspension work, or if I notice an issue at hwy speeds (lifetime with Firestone)

How much gear oil does the transfer assembly need?
Based on the service records for this vehicle (with 235,000 miles) I don't think transmission/transfer case have ever been done. I don't think plugs have been done either....but it runs fine so I'm tempted to leave them.
The coolant has a nice blue color (I assume that is Honda specific coolant? GM's are always green, well sometimes red)...so I assume it's newish. Does this vehicle darken the coolant color as it ages? Looking for some way to see if it is worn out

When the tranny fluid smells it’s time to drain and refill. Some do that ever other oil change as I do . I always chide my friends you can always replace the transmission instead of servicing it .At least the new one has fresh unknown fluid in it .LOl .
My 08 RDX took .43L or .45 qts of SAE 90 or 80w-90 hypoid gear oil (from page 14-241 of the 07 RDX service manual)

If you just bought the car then stage zero it.
Change the differential, transfer case, power steering, and transmission fluid if you can.
We drain and filled my partners transmission fluid twice and i will do one last one at her next oil change. Stick to oem transmission fluid if you can. Her car had an issue where it felt like there was little to no acceleration when depressing the pedal. After changing the transmission fluid it was a lot peppier and crisper. We used the honda transmission fluid directly. The fluid should be almost a pink colour. It differs from DEXRON or MERCON based fluids that are a darker red. If the fluid is dark red then it likely should be changed if using acura/honda fluid.

They are on the maintenance minder schedule, so you'll get codes which refer to coolant, transmission and differential service. It will factor in more than just mileage, but as yanga said if you are not certain of if/when previous services were done then just do it all and start from there on your own schedule, but you won't be lined up with the factory schedule anymore.
For my own sake, I do coolant and brake fluid every 3 years regardless of mileage. Power steering every 50k miles, and transmission every 25k, or basically every 4th oil change (I drive mostly city and in Phoenix, so I shorten that interval).

I'm convinced, I'm going to change all fluids ASAP. I notice that Acura seems to use crush washers for most drain plugs. I can't find the exact sizes listed anywhere (and once the drain bolt is out I don't have time to shop for exact matches)
Would someone know the drain+fill washer sizes for transmission, transfer case, differential, oil? I found that but not sure it's right or covers all of the above (for 2011 RDX SHAWD)
