Figured something out

If you have your wipers on when your switching from park to reverse it turns the rear wipers on for a bit to clear the water/snow. Prettty cool but useless feature especially on the rdx with tech package you have the backup camera :P

Yesterday when it rained I wondered why my rear window had been wiped. I thought I had done it by accident. I rarely use the wiper. Sometimes the camera is distorted from the rain-water and I still look back out of habit.

Thanks for the clarity!

Ha! A lot of good that rear view camera does. As soon as it gets wet, I can't see a thing. I can't for the life of me figure out why Acura didn't put the camera just inside the back window so the wiper would clear the view. Just dumb in my opinion...

I dunno I put some tv screen cleaner on microfilm paper and cleaned it when I was cleaning the car on the weekend.

Even with the slush, rain and snow from last night I was able to back up easily with the camera.

Yes I do agree, overtime it will begin to have dirt cover it up and just becomes blurry.

I clean mine often, but all it takes is a few drops of rain and it goes completely blurry again. To me, a simple fix would have been to put it in the back window in the path of the wiper, that's all.

That's such a good idea, one has to wonder if there isn't some regulation or code preventing it. Does anyone have another brand that does this?

I got into the habit of wiping it gently when I walk up to the car.

Anyone try running rainx or fogx on the lens cover ? Maybe that will repel the water and fog which is mostly what causes the blurry.

Rain today, rainX didn't help. The camera is just in the wrong place when it comes to water. I gues if I was backing up at 30mph THEN, voila!
