For the 32 grand I paid for my RDX (and for many others who paid about the same during the incentive bonanza last summer), it's a good deal. It was only 4-5K more than a comparable CRV and that's well worth it for the performance and equipment difference between the two.

That's why I bought my Acura, a slightly more expensive Honda with more toys, upscale service and brand image, and excellent reliability. It's worth close to 33k not 39k, that's the only issue.

 

Had a 2010 TSX loaner during my service appointment. After the RDX, it steers like a go-kart, but power is not there, and I don't like being down low on the road when I'm commuting.

 

I've been contemplating the purchase of an RDX for the last month and after doing a lot of reading on this forum, I have to agree with some of the other posters. I have a hard time believing MMike1981 is as happy with his RDX as he claims. It just seems like every post of his starts with how great the performance is and ends with a string of complaints.

It's good in a way though because I'm really paying attention to a lot of things he criticizes during my test drives to see if they really bother me. So far, I've come to the conclusion that it will be very hard to beat a used RDX for the under $20k price tag that I'm seeing (at least for my needs). Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's perfect by any means... but, for the price I haven't seen a better vehicle with a combination of performance, features, handling, reliability and styling.

 

That's a good outlook, superblast. And I think mmike is also pretty consistent in saying that, for the price, the RDX is an unbeatable value. Personally, I'd like more luxury, better interior materials, etc. for a couple thousand more but it's clear Acura has found a niche where the RDX currently is positioned. For customers like me they've got the ZDX, which I'll be getting in December...

 

Re: Highway driving and the RDX. It's a matter of preference, but FWIW, we take our RDX on long drives all the time (NC --> Chicago, NC --> NYC, NC --> Orlando), and I can say that compared to many other vehicles I've driven, I never have any back fatigue or leg cramps, or even need to stretch when getting out of the RDX. It makes long drives enjoyable. The seats are terrific (at least for me).

 

Not just you, calcio22. I've driven coast-to-coast eight times. On my most recent trip, my family was moving from DC to LA, driving both our RDX and our Lexus GS430. Each morning, the battle was for who was going to drive the RDX, because it was such a comfortable cruiser. I just don't understand it when people complain about the road noise, comfort, or suspension.

which is pretty much what i have always said about it. believe what you want about anything else. its a super performer in this category, solid standard equipment, and well, IMO average everywhere else. and the reason why i do love my RDX is because i drive it like a maniac and it TAKES IT. which is awesome, its so fun to drive around town. but at the end of the day, its pricing is still a good value but right now its a more expensive honda and not as premium, at all, as some of acuras other models. my gripes are where its very clear how acura kept the price down, nothing more nothing less. If they upped the luxury and features in this thing, theyd be around 40k. I expect the new one to definitely get there, just like the V6 TSX nav overlaps the TL. Hopefully the new RDX will be in the same boat and i can buy one that is closer to an MDX not a CRV.

 

Its quite easy if you drive others in its class on a regular basis and can compare them back to back when you have its competitors as rides in your family. I know that may be a rare situation, but at least for me, it creates a very nice situation of back to back drives on the same roads. and complain is really the wrong word. I bought mine out-right, i can say what i want about it, and its just observations and comparison talk not bitching.

 

additionally, i know there is alot of talk about 'value' regarding the RDX and other vehicles, but i also think that 38 n change is too high for a fully loaded RDX. yes its cheaper than just about anything else, but i also think its too expensive for what you get in its current form. it certainly doesnt feel or look like a 40k SUV and lacks many features that SHOULD HAVE been put in for the 2011, first and foremost the 2nd gen ELS/NAV screen thats found in the TL etc. no reason why that shouldnt be in there. Rear hvac? the crosstour and ridgeline have it.

Funny story, went out to eat this weekend, my friends german made car which shall go unnamed (but in the same category) stayed in the valet lot while mine was driven off site. FWIW LOL

 

I don't think anyone in the US with half a brain has paid 38K n change for a fully loaded Tech..... closer to 34K
I do agree that many of the 2011 features should have been included since day 1 and I also agree that the non-tech version (if you lean that way) is even more of a deal...

FWIW - I had fun on an up-hill on-ramp agains a brand new Camaro SS... I punched it first and then he tried (desparately) to catch me to no avail... Love that Hondata reflash!

 

u get a tech down from 38n change to 36 + tax and everything else if you put some options on the car, it gets close. maybe not 38k exactly, but when the dust settles....my selling price was 32k, plus options/tax etc, total amount was north of 36, on a base. and yes, the base is a WAY better deal/value. especially now where the rear view cam is std equip.

 

Well, I test drove a 2010 model today. Definitely a fun ride, but it was a little noisier than I expected. Not a deal-breaker though. So it's a 10' SH-AWD/Tech model in the color scheme I'd be looking for. Was thinking about waiting until the 31st and offering 34k take it or leave it. Wonder how much they want to get the remaining 10's off the lot....

 

FWIW, the 2011 is exactly the same as the 2010, hence, they might not budge as much... but it's worth waiting for the last day of the month of course.

 

Yeah but now it's a full model year older, so there is the depreciation factor that has to be considered.

 

It's a shame that even the lowly Kia Sportage has better touchscreen navigation, better ipod interface, panoramic sunroof, and ventilated seats while the RDX does not even offer them..Acura SERIOUSLY needs to up the feature content....

 

different types of marketing... some cars cannot give you reliability so instead they will blind you on tech features and interior designs... some cars concentrate more on reliability and doesnt offer fancy looks

 

Well, I'm off the fence. Just arrived back home with my 2010 SH-AWD/Tech in Polished Metal/Black. Made (1) offer of 35,500 and they took it. Their initial "aggressive quote" was for 36,700 and I was like, uh no. So I got it for $400 under invoice, but it's a 2010.

Congrats. I go tomorrow for my test drives. My initial "ePrice" was $35,640 for a black/black 2010 AWD Tech.

 

Ours gets 25 mpg highway when we took it on a trip loaded down. We loved our 08 Murano SL but we wanted a car again so we got the new TL. The Murano is quiet, comfortable, and gets good gas mileage. It feels more refined inside too.

 

Hate to break it to you man, but Nissan didn't even make a Murano in 08. The last gen stopped in 07, and Nissan skipped 08 and made the 09 Murano as we had the first one in 09.

I got mine at Acura of Auburn (MA). I got the sense they aren't as big of a dealer as Acura of Boston or Herb Connolly in Framingham. When I bought the 2006 Xterra SE in December 05' the dealer took my first offer of $26000 without hesitation, and that was $800 below invoice + new model year. Like I said earlier my RDX was puchased for ~400 below invoice but it's a 10'. The salesman that I was working with was suprised that the sales manager took my offer of $35500, but I was ready to walk. According to the salesman he was like "I'm not supposed to tell you this but we are only making ~$200 on the sale and that they would have to tap into their "dealer holdback" to get that, or something like that. They showed me their actual invoice on the car but I was like whatever and ultimately they caved. They gave me $9500 on the Xterra and I was fine with that (KBB trade in-$8300, Edmunds - $11000, NADA- $14000 (!))

The saleman let slip that more 11's arrived and they need to make room so even if I did get a "good deal" at Acura of Auburn, I probably could have gotten a better deal at one of the bigger players...maybe for like 35K or lower who knows. If I actually had to pay for my car (short story: I'm a Regional Sales Mgr., drive ~2800miles/month and get reimubursed .50/mile so I *make* $1400 month just driving around which covers payment, fuel, insurance, + ~$300 leftover which builds month to month to cover things like tires, service work etc.) I may have shopped harder but because I got what I did for the X, and 1.9% for 60 months ($350/month after trade-in + 8k down **the 8k was from my mileage expense overage for the last 10 months so not really out of pocket since the X was paid off last October that was $417 extra per month that was building up**) and they had exactly what I wanted with only 48 miles on the odometer (showroom car, took delivery in March) I just went with it. 37,300 OTD (TTL, b.s., etc) I'll be curious to hear how others make out on 10's over the next month or two.

 

b4 i bought my rdx i too was contemplating the murano, but the cvt is still questionable. so i decided the RDX and totally stoked on the RDX it performs exceptionally well and love the nav stereo and the luxury and sportyness of this high quality suv. good luck with whatever you buy
