Eliminating the 'stock' DRL yellowish color...
so i decided to try these out in the DRLs...to hopefully eliminate the yellowish 'blah' color during the day time. To my surprise, the DRLs are alot more whiter now and look great. YES, the bulbs have that blue coating but overall it has a cool effect to see the blue bulb in the housing.
*the iphone camera doesnt pick up the bulb color very well but its definitely whiter than stock DRLs even at the lower wattage that is pumped out for DRLs. i haven't tried the high beams yet...will try it tomorrow early morning when its still dark out.

that's regular DRL mode... not high beam. good quality bulb also.. just remember NOT to touch the actual bulb/glass surface with bare fingers during installation. I've gotten GP Thunder for countless cars in the past and they all lasted a very long time.

don't use those blue bulbs i had them:
they're not even white during daylight, only at night. i threw them out.
^ those are nokya bulbs which burned my harness and melted the socket. $300 damage. blue filter is bad on halogen bulbs. reduce output and life.
they are not bright. and if they, then it's probably over 65w and will eventually damage your wiring and socket. plus they make ur ride look like 90's racer boy accords when off.
i'm using sylvania silverstar ultra. they are mad bright at night and are about 15% whiter. the filter is not thick like nokya's, you can hardly tell they are tinted. they lasted about 2 years on my TL. here they are on rdx:
:
yellow is an exception. yellow filter does not reduce output much since the halogen bulb burns closely to the colour temperature of yellow. they look cool and are brighter than blue-white bulbs. i have them on my tl which takes same drl as rdx:
again, i would avoid blue bulbs at all costs. just do a google and you'll see.

hey Pickler...some good points you made...however, i heard that the nokya were rated at like 80W or something? i went relatively safe with the GP thunders at 65W which is a mere 5W more than the stock DRLs. (so i dont expect any wiring dmg)
the bluish tint to the bulbs still kinda bug me a bit so i'm not totally 100% on either liking or disliking them lol but i'm going to drive around a bit more during the day to figure out if they do throw out much light...mind you, DRLs dont have to be superbright but would want to make sure people know i'm coming (safety issue).
I put the SS ultras in my wifes civic and yes, they are awesome...will most likely get them for the DRLs later..probably early next year. no budget for more bulbs lol after i've upgraded the interior to full LED...spending the cash now on roof rack, running boards and front spoiler.

well the bulb printing claims 65w:
look at how the bulb differs from other 9005s. it has a larger tube and filament construction is poor. this means less brightness. it draws 0.8v and 5w more power than stock. it is much less brighter cause of blue filter and reasons mention above. my recommendation is stay with oem if you can't get good quality bulbs like ss ultra. SS ultra is also 65w 12.8v. however i admit SS ultra doesn't look as good as your current 5700k DRL.

they do make HID 9005 bulb kits.. (just a suggestion) for 60 bucks on ebay you can get close to the same color as your headlights. they are 35w and just as bright, plus i dont think you would have to worry about them melting anything since they run cooler

you can't run hid DRLs. they will flicker due to lower voltage. If you install HID in your high beams you need to disable DRL. And even if it did not flicker, it is crazy to run around with bright high beams on all the time.

I hate my DRL's. But I'm not going to spend a penny on them because I think they are a useless feature. Save your money and just pull the fuse for the DRL (unless you are in Canada which requires DRLs on all new vehicles made or imported after January 1, 1990).

They also light up dark roads exceptionally well. Also you might want to aim your HID lows. I noticed they were aimed too low from factory, i think it's the same thing with all RDXs.

that's nice, you'll love them as high beams. i used them all the time to give cars with illegal HID lights (glare kings) a taste of their own medicine. It really carries the message across lol.

yes sir, they are required by the law here in Canada.

Anyone using leds to replace their OEM yellowish drl?
I have installed the 68smd leds and love the white they give. However, the high beams virtually look the same as the drl brightness. Not good for someone who need to use hign beams often.
The kit came with the decoders so no error code or flickers...so far so good.
