Disabling Device Question
Disabling Device Question
I was shopping around for better insurance and one of the questions for an online quote was whether the vehicle has a disabling device.
Does the RDX have a passive or active disabling device?
Also, does it have a steering lock device or tracking device?
I'm sorry if it seems like a dumb question but I just got my RDX and haven't explored the manual yet, and I'm here online trying to get some internet quotes.
Thanks!

Your key has a special chip in it which activates the engine when it is inserted. So from that perspective, the car does have a disabling device because without the correct key, the engine will not start. I think the alarm system when triggered will also disable the engine. But the car does not have a 'kill switch' or anything like that.
The steering wheel will remain 'locked' until the rpoer key is inserted so I think you are a YES in that area as well.

Thanks RPeete. I talked to the insurance agent and it turns out the RDX has a "passive" disabling device.
Also, they gave me a discount because it has the GPS!!! They count that as a "recovery system device". I'm sure theives could just turn off or not use the GPS but if they say so, I'm cool with it
