Cargo area height?

Can someone tell me what the cargo area height is? I can't find it anywhere online and I'd rather not have to go down to the dealer with a tape measure. It looks from pictures to be pretty tall given the low floor. I'd say about 40", but I can't be sure. I want to see if my bikes will fit.

Thanks in advance to any kind RDX owner in possession of a tape measure!

About 33 inches at the opening and 36 at the maximimum point. For a road bike, a 51cm frame size (about 5'04" person height) is about the max you can reasonably fit upright (wheel off) with a fork mount that doesn't sit up too high. The rear of the saddle ends up at the max point but the bike needs to be angled when you roll it in the rear opening. Occasionally hitting the roof with the saddle is almost unavoidable. A mountain bike geometry would probably do a little better.

Before I made my purchase I told the dealer that being able to hold my bike upright was a deal breaker. They had no problems with me bringing in my bike and trying it out. Clean your chain and your saddle and use an RDX with an ebony interior.

If you don't mind taking lowering or removing your saddle, you can put bigger bikes in the RDX standing upright. Removing the saddle is usually easy to do on a mountain bike, but it can be a big hassle on a road bike.

Thanks!

Thanks for the prompt and accurate info. Unfortunately I ride a 58cm bike so I'll need at least 39" to keep the seat on. Both my road and MTBs have difficult seat posts, so I'd probably only remove them on long trips. It's not a dealbreaker for me, but if it had been 39" it would have defintely sealed the deal.

I don't think any SUVs on the market will have 39" of floor-to-ceiling clearance. Land Rovers have a tall roof, but also a very high floor. Your best bet would be something like the RAV4 which has a super low floor because of the car-based construction and also the spare tire is on the back door instead of under the floor.
