Boost Guage???

Not that I plan on messing with the turbos or changing the boost.... but a real guage would be nice. Am I missing something?

What's wrong with that one if you're not changing the boost?

I'm guessing that he was hoping for a guage that quantitatively shows the variable boost calibrated in psi. If you simply assume the "top" of the guage is 13.5 psi (the maximum boost) and the "bottom" is zero boost, the first "line" would be 4.5 psi, the second line 9 psi. With this assumption, this guage performs the very function that RDX Groupie is seeking. More information on the boost guage will likely be contained in the owners manual.

It is just nice to know how much boost you are getting. If something goes wrong, or if you got a chip or EBC, it would be nice to see a stock guage that could display it. My 3000gt had a worthless boost guage, and my jetta had no boost guage at all. I'm not sure what other cars with turbo applications (Porsche, Subaru, Audi, Mitsubishi, Volvo) are doing now on their guages. It is nice to know if you are running 9 psi or are only hitting 7.

Not a deal breaker in any way. It just looks like it functions the same as the one in my 3000gt which was basically worthless.

As far as I know, there aren't many, if any, turbocharged cars with denominations on their boost gauges from the factory. They may be available as a dealer installed option, as they are on the subarus, but not from the manufacturer.

FWIW, I don't see any boost guage in the Mazda CX-7.

Are there any cars with stock/optional turbo gauges measured in PSI? I thought most were measured in BAR. Porche dealers runs into problems where people sit in the car and say "What the hell is BAR?". Honda probably didn't put any measurements for simplicity reason, much like the fuel and temperature gauges.
