Bikes in cargo area?

I recently had a 2013 RDX AWD Tech as a loaner. I was very impressed with the vehicle, esp its utility and cargo room. I was able to fit my daughter's kids bike and my mountain bike (front wheel removed) into its trunk by folding down 1 part of the rear seat, while my daughter sits in her car seat on the other half of the rear seat.

Can the 1G RDX do the same? Would you be able to fit a kids bike and a mountain bike in the rear cargo area with one part of the rear seat folded back, while the other part of the rear seat remains upright?

i think you are trying to ascertain a comparo in cargo from the 1G to the 2G, but why abuse the car and the bikes? consider a hitch rack for transporting bikes. no dirty interior, no awkward contorting to get the bike in/out of the car, and the bike stays in one piece without taking the front wheel off. plus time saved trying to load and unload the gear.

I have done it with both seats folded down. I don't remember if only one seat down would fit. I now have a bike rack on the roof, so no more folding the seat down for me.

I'm curious to know if only 1 seat down would fit the bikes.

I'm starting to take my daughter out biking more, so just trying to see if I should equip my TL with a roof rack, bike rack, or bike hitch (which the TL is not rated for)... or consider trading in the TL for a 1G RDX via an equal trade (the 2G RDX is nice, but I don't want to fork over any $$ at this moment).

get a roof rack and be done with it. least amount of hassle. I just bought and installed a hitch on my car I bought from uhaul ($124) and went to costco and got a four bike rack to use with the hitch ($75). but if the TL cant get a hitch then I would go with a roof rack. Also yes it will work if you try to fit both bikes in As I used to but its a real pain in the arse.

I agree. It takes a lot of effort to try to put the bikes in carefully and trying not to scratch anything. You are better off spending a few hundred dollars.

Shop around. I got a Yakima roof rack and 2 bike trays for my Mini Cooper for $200 on Craigslist.
