battery
debating whether is shld disconnect my battery as i am embarking on 4 wk trip. if ive to do so, what stuff do i need to have reprogrammed in our rdx? (i presume some of the electronics will hve to be done - but which one). if it's too much of a hassle, im gonna take the risk and not disconnect the batt. any help appreciated.

sorry, to be clearer, do we hv to reprogram everything? i know you need to reprgm clock radio etc. but what about transmission, tire pressure, etc. in short, trying to avoid hvng to go to dealership for reprogramming all these things and being nickel and dimed all the way again. thanks for your hlp ny23

well cavium, you can pretty much tell them you're having a battery issue, they can do it for free for you(hence if you are still under warrenty).
tire pressure should never change nore your transmission, it's just the internal computer(4 chips usuallY) within the RDX.
the risk is that your computer battery might not reset itself.

All you are going to clear is your radio, clock and navigation. Your ECU (computer) will reset but it will relearn as soon as you start driving (don't do any WOT runs for 15-20 minutes).
Radio codes and navigation codes should be available in your manual pouch.

There is NO harm what so ever with leaving your battery connected. This is the first time I have ever heard anyone want to disconnect there battery for a trip.
Just leave it connected. More of a pain in the a s s disconnecting it, but that's just my opinion!

I'm curious...what's a WOT run and what's the harm in doing so after reconnecting the batterY?

I experienced this on my Galant, when they disconected the battery the ilding is very low and you will notice some engine vibration, You need to drive your car and try reach at least 3k rpm. The ECU will auto prgram your engine's timing and idling.

thanks guys. am ol school here and wasnt sure if one needed to do so lest the batt gets dischargd. manual does say to ensure auto funcn of lights is disabled when nt using rdx for 1 wk or longer. will just take the risk of not disconnecting since yes i thnk batt is under warrnty.

There is a small drain on the battery at all times due to the electronics, and if the battery is just a little weak it may not start the RDX after a few weeks. This happened to me while at an airport parking lot while on a long vacation, but Acura roadside took care and jump started me. There was a problem with the security system not letting the engine run as I used a key to enter and did not shut the security off with the FOB. Anyway, when I leave the RDX unattended for weeks at home I use a battery tender to keep everything charged.
