automatic trunk open and close

has anyone considered doing an auto up/close module like the rx330/pacifica/caravans on the rdx? or has anyone done it already?

i really want to do it and program it on my 2way pager...

anyone know any companies that do it? i know this one company that do it that i found out about at a car show, but they look crazy expensive so im not gunna bother with them

thanks
eric

it may be very expensive, considering to fit a motor, and then safely wiring it. then there are fit and finish issues, and maybe the hinges may need modding...anything is possible with money, but the question is: how much of it?

not at all. if i wanted an auto open/close hatch, i would have bought the more boring rx350.

besides, that feature is intended for soccer moms, and a soccer mom i am not.

The MDX closer and lock assembly looks pretty big, so the vehicle tailgate area would have to be designed to house it.

I would use a feature like this every once and a while but not enough to make it worth it I think, but its definitely not a soccer mom feature. I would like it if it would open automatically, but you have to pull it down to close it. then it wouldn't even have to be a power tailgate, but just a release mechanism.

The MDX has a problem with its power tailgate. If you leave it open, it puts a continuous 3 amp draw on the battery, and it is killing batteries, especially if you tailgate.

tailgate as in tailgating before a football game or something like that. Not tailgating by following someone closely on the road...

That thing isn't going to do anything. It will release the tailgate, but it won't open it. You'll still have to lift it by hand, so you might as well just push the button on the tailgate.
