are Acuras ugly??

These two articles were both posted last week. They really do not like the "guillotine grille" that appears on all the latest Acuras, except for the RDX (yet).

I can't agree more... the new grille is hideous.... However.. it's a look that'll grow on you. The more you see it the more you'll accept it. Maybe that's what Honda decided to do?

The grill is not very appealing on cars. The RL also seems to move to something that literally looks like a glammed up accord - hardly the look you want for your flagship.

Totally agree. With the exception of the MDX, the new grille looks fugly. It doesn't help that Acura uses cheaper plastic materials for the lower "V" on the shield (similar to the RDX)...doesn't exactly scream luxury.

I am a big fan of Acura interiors though.

I'd imagine a move away from chrome to something more subtle might help. I wonder what gunmetal or black would look like.

It looks like a CTS. I don't like the front fenders.

Wouldn't an RDX with a 2009 TSX-style grill look like a Saturn Vue?

Maybe in Japan they don't have the expression, "You don't get a second chance at a first impression." IMHO, the new corporate grill(s) is/are fugly, even on the MDX. I like the current RDX grill, but it too could be better designed. If future sales are going to be based on the new grills then Acura is in big trouble.

All the new Acuras are being designed in their new design center in California (Modesto I think I heard). The RL and TSX were the first two to come out of that place and perhaps not surprisingly, they're sporting typical uninspired, bland American style bodies. They look just like everything else the American manufactures have been trying to convince us we want.

Boo Acura.

Yah, the new grille work is terrible. If the RDX had had that I would not have bought it. The dealership had some new TSX's with the 09 grille work and it was really a shame. Other than the grille work the cars looked very nice. Same goes for the RL and soon to come out TL.

ill say this......the new acuras coming out....they are alot different IN PERSON...u need to go out and look at them before passing judgment on pics....in case u havent seen them yet.

Pictures alone dont do justice for the TSX, RL etc.

The ones I see on the street look fine. The new TSX look very nice indeed.
I thougt the huge Nissan and Audi grilles looked odd also, but I got used to it.

I don't know what they're thinking. The MDX was designed to appeal to the 'driver dad' (Acura's words) but the new RL and TSX...

I think it looks fine until you see the front end. I think the Grille work ruins it. Otherwise they have reasonably clean lines. I don't think I am going to really get used to "ugly". I still hate the new Accord sedans no matter how many of them I have seen. That Grille work is also bad.

The new Acuras have been a disappointment in my eyes. Seems more car makers are making cars uglier by the model.

Acura simply lacks Infiniti's daring and bold styling taste. Acura is very conservative.

the new acura's are ugly, i would never buy any of them. 2008 was ther last good year for Acura. they ruined the tsx, no it looks likes they killed the tl. good thing i have my 06 tsx, which is considered a legend compared to the new 1.

I think that's true about Honda overall. Someone earlier mentioned the boring style of the new Honda Accord which I totally agree with.

I mean look at Toyota and the new Camry...that is way sexier than the Accord and it's not even that "crazy".

I don't think Honda has to do a lot to make their cars a little more "sexy." They seem to save that for the Honda Civic which I think looks a lot better than the Accord. Just make the style a little more sleek. I use to love the style of the Accord but it's gotten so boring. I really like the look of the new TSX...except for the grill like everyone else. But that alone would never stop me from buying the car.

i disagree about the Camry vs accord. If u look at the camry....its body moldings are just big plastic overhangs...especially from the rear...the weels dont looks right underneath all the plastic (se model)

i think the new accord, if anyting, carries some european influence, somewhat BWM lines from the side and rear...i think its def more elegant than the camry, camry is gross and looks overweight

not sure why Acura has gone for this edgy, angled look if anything its getting more japed out than moving closer to its infiniti neighbor and even further away from the mundane BMW/Benz/Audi (altho the x6 is CRAZY) and lexus (yawn) etc..i think people will Like it or leave it, ...could hurt sales because people tend to embrance understaded elegance in this bracket, although i really do like the youth thats been breathed into acura lately maybe they are just aiming for younger buyers who knows

other than the FX/EX style, i really dont think there is anything from Infiniti design wise that is up front in ur face, the G and M are classy and have refined looks

when you said new accord has a euro influence do you mean the US or Euro Accord? well, the new accord sedan looks from the side like the 5 series a little bit, but the rear looks like a saturn, while the euro accord/tsx looks more japanese and euro influence than any american influence because american honda engineers didn't work on the TSX at all.

accord sedan - us.

the tsx is a looker, in all honesty. the car, on the road, and in person, imo, leaves an impression (and its a big vehicle, too). too bad its engine is a joke....maybe they'll bring out a type s...but in any case, i LOVE the new TSX on appearance, inside and out.

This reminds me of when Pontiac made the brilliant decision back in 1991 to add a Daytona nose to the Firebird.

And they actually had the gall to call it "redesigned".

the new accord is very disproportionate, the light bulge is down right replusive, at any rate i would snag a nissan altima for a Midsize.

I was stuck in traffic next to a new Accord and had time to really think about what I didn't like about the style of it--the front grill. It looks almost exactly the same as the Odyssey’s front grill--except the "H" seems even bigger on the Accord grill than on the van.

It is as if the designers at Honda were trying to see what would happen if you crossed a BMW 328 with an Odyssey. It is too bad, because it is almost a really attractive car.

I think the 2-door is much better looking than the 4-door
