no reason why the hood should use the rod still; this was noted when the RDX came out, another reason why I dont care for how Acura is very selective at what vehicle gets a "refresh" and then what actually gets refreshed. Thing should not have a prop rod, if the hood is too heavy for the hydro's, then fix the hood. Its all about perception. I feel like most of their models sit and rot and they are unmotivated to change them. Whatever changes come usually come because the vehicle really cant survive any longer in its current state, imo. The RDX leaves me wondering because they changed essentially nothing other than the driven wheels, which seemed more motivated at selling the things by cheapening the model than doing anything to offer a real option to consumers. I have really high hopes for the "new" RDX if there will be one. The ball is on the T for Acura, the best vehicles are already out and have been out for some time, they can really nail this segment if they want too. Will they? I have my own speculation about that....

As someone who performs all RDX maintenance at home, I find the Honda hood prop to be one of my favorite "little" innovations.

The RDX rod has two positions: a low one for routine checking, and a much higher one that stands the hood nearly straight up, for extensive service without the hood interfering. Moreover, the hood can be switched between these two positions in seconds with no tools.

Hoods on gas struts are always in the way, and cannot be raised higher without tools and shaky aftermarket thing-amajigs to hold them -- bump one and it takes your head off.

"Props" to Honda for yet another, well thought out, simple solution for ease of service!

Next year they go DD prologic 2 or possibly 2x or 2z (I have THX in a Lexus RX blah blah!)

Tapes rock! <--- in the 80s-early90s

Poor Lexus, owned by toyota, makers of the prius*cough* q_eer'us *cough* RRR'ing tape players.

I can explain the tapes. This is because only middle-aged men to seniors drive that brand, (L), either that or those owners lack "test-tost-ter-own"; shriviled up balls and man boobies.. Anywho, Some of those folks, watch murder she wrote, listen to 8-tracks now and then, but they also have an extensive collection of Earth, Wind, and Fire, ABBA, or Bee Gees etc. Stowed away in their 80's man purse or fanny pack. I believe that they really turn it up to 11 as they rock out. Dont mean to offend anyone but it's in the unwritten The Man-rulebook, as a no-don't do, like, or wear.

On a side note I speculate that the SC may follow the supra's path to retirement. Great idea car-- lack-luster miata rep and our economic bubble popped. I see a lone 95ish at the drags with kinda low et's 14-13s but not often. Guy's probably embarrassed, you know... wishing he drove a Supra.

Anyhow the IS series is quite manly and should divorce(now) Lexus altogether, I don't care how it happens, but just needs to happen. The SC fits Lexus, the tag is too high for the youth and riff raff wont drive it unless they are stealing it or won it at the casino. Earlier SC's had the heart of the supra (2JZ-GE) but thats history now.

Cool thing is I see alot of asian women driving lexus SUVs too. 4 out of 5 are asian women.
