Is Acura focussing more on the RDX than the new MDX?

Since the new MDX is coming out this fall, which is really just a month or two away, I thought it's interesting that Acura seems to have put more effort and attention into the RDX. Given the RDX is out now, while the MDX is still not out, but it just seems that Acura seems to have much more emphasis on the introduction of the RDX than the launch of the new generation MDX. Am I getting the wrong impression? 2 months ago, we had a ton of information on the RDX already, but it's almost September but we still have not heard much about the new MDX...

Anyway, I will have paid off the TSX by fall next year. Then I can decide on the MDX, RDX, 3 series wagon, or to wait for new A4, the Infiniti CUV or even the new C class??? Perhaps I really should get an extended warranty on my TSX then :-)

It's a new model that has never been seen before. Acura has to sell the idea to the public who doesn't know anything about the vechicle. It's important that Acura/Honda makes knowledge of the RDX so it doesn't get overshadowed by it's other SUVs being due to the lack of advertisement.

MDX is an established vechicle in it's market. The only reason "the public" don't know anything is because of the embargo. The 06' Civic was the same way, we never hear anything official, only rumors, assumptions and pics, until Sept 2005.

Thanks! That makes total sense to me. To be honest with you, as much as I like the RDX, I am even more excited about the new MDX! I think that the styling is much better and the Acura claim for the "best in class" performance" is very intriguing...

Don't forget, we heard the same claims for the RDX.

Just remember to be sitting down when they release the pricing on the new MDX. My gut feel is that they are going to move the MDX further upscale with pricing in the U.S in the high 40's.

I agree 100%. For 2006 loaded Pilot was about the same price as base MDX. Loaded RDX is about $41,000, easy to do the math. Honda has three or four or five new vehicles coming out for 2007. They have to stager the intros so that everything gets individual press in adequate amounts. Also except for new models Honda is always very closed mouth. They want to sell off old stock at as high a price as possible, smart.

$41,000? A tech package car costs all of $37,200. Maybe you're talking out-the-door. . . anyway, while on the subject of release timelines, let's not forget that the RDX was actually scheduled to arrive a month or two before it did. This would've better separated it from the MDX's pending arrival.
