Cool Acura Announcement Jan 9 2012

Just got an email tease from Acura mentioning an announcement at the Detroit Autoshow on Jan 9, 2012. The link on the website is called FutureVehicles.aspx. They will be streaming it on the site.

New/updated RDX/MDX? Any chance of an entirely new model somewhere in the lineup?

I'm leaning toward the all new RL being the center of attention on 1/9/12. We might see a 95-99% completed "concept" of the ILX (RSX production name). I think we will get the same 85-95% "concept" sneak-peak for the RDX and/or MDX next week.

Then I think Acura will sit back and review all the cheers/jeers before making final tweaks before production.

I'm expecting an all new RL, RSX, RDX and MDX to be released before the world ends on Dec/2012. If we survive, all new 2014 TL in 2013. The TSX and ZDX last model year being 2013 (or 2014 model with zero changes/upgrades).

Acura might surprise us and release a 3.7L sh-awd coupe based on the Honda Accord OR an Acura based Ridgeline truck?

Cool! I just entered my phone number to be reminded by text when the show begins.
I was set on a used 08 or 09, but since the value of a used RDX is so high, I am tempted to lease a new one instead, and if a 2013 is that much better, I might just wait, since the 2013 model is set to be on sale in spring.

Not impressed, like everyone said, V6, 6 speed auto, no SH-AWD, they said the V6 would have 33 more HP than the 4 turbo (no improvement IMO, since the 4 turbo gets close to that with Hondata), they said fuel economy would be 20/28 with FWD, of coursed they didn't mention what the AWD would get, and they said price would be close to the 2012 model ( near $40k basically, I guess).
They did improve the body of the car, but not enough to make me go: wow!, the got rid of the black plastic front and rear bumper that are not body color matched, and they said interior room increased.
They changed the wheels and they look like the ones on the CRV but black with the shaved face (whatever it's called, I'll try to get pics later)
No mention of the 0 to 60 time, so now we'll have to wait some more to find out.
only thing new inside is an 8 inch Nav screen with Pandora radio (don't care) and SMS to text (don't care either), so I'll stick to getting me a used 09 with tech.

Got back from lunch a little late. I did see the ILX and concept NSX. The concept NSX looked like the hard top version of the Tony Stark convertible car up coming in the Avengers movie.

Does anyone know the tech specs of any of the vehicles (DI under the hood, 6AT or 7AT transmission, new sh-awd system, more luxury, 3D Navi, updated sound system, etc…)

Hood is longer to fit the V6, looks bad, rear quarter panel glass is half the visibility of the old one, didn't they ever think about rearward visibility

wish they kept a higher glass line in the rear - at least it would give off a more truck like appearance rather than a fast back Infiniti FX-ish look.

For someone that has been looking to upgrade the wife from a 07 CRV....Um that "New" RDX looks like the roof line of an "Old" CRV...hope it looks better in person or just another Acura that I will pass on...COME ON Acura.

The front end and hood looks like a mix between the current TL and RL in style. Are the vents By the fogs covers or open vents?
