2011 Best Small Used SUVs: CR-V and RDX
The CR-V is Consumer Reports first choice in small used SUVs. The RDX is second. Considering the list is value driven; it's commendable that the upscale RDX comes in ahead of the lower price point Rav-4 and Forester.

The CR-V is comfortable and drives like a car, with a fuel-efficient four-cylinder engine. In 2005 ESC and curtain air bags were made standard, and the 2007 redesign brought more power and improved fuel efficiency. The Acura RDX is quick and agile but has a stiff ride. The Toyota RAV4 and Mitsubishi Outlander offer third-row seats.
Other good choices:
Acura RDX
Mitsubishi Outlander
Toyota RAV4
Kia Sportage ('05-09)
Hyundai Tucson (V6)
Subaru Forester
Infiniti EX
Nissan Rogue

I only pay attention to their reliability stats. Their evaluation criteria for everything else does not match mine very well. I like CR, but they tend to mix too many subjective things into their over-all ratings for products, like their "ease of use". For reliability though, they are the only source without intrinsic bias like, for example, JD Powers. (JD Powers revenue source is from the makers of the products they evaluate. That means they work for them. Consumer Reports revenue is directly from the subscribers. They work for me. True Delta has car ads on it site. He talks a good talk, then takes money from the people selling the products just like JD Powers does--and he even has the balls to call out JD Powers even though he does the same thing to a lesser degree.)
