2009 RDX Sh-AWD issue...
About a month ago on a cold morning (-10 C) I got the SH-AWD warning light, and my RDX was operating in FWD mode. 10 minutes after driving, I shut the RDX off, re-started it, and the warning light was gone and everything was operating fine. Weather warmed up a bit and no recurrences of the warning light, until a week ago when we got a cold snap (I live in Canada). Whenever the temp gets to - 8 deg C (17 deg. F) or colder and the vehicle sits for a period of time, the warning light comes on and the vehicle is in FWD mode. Within 5 minutes of driving, if I shut the RDX off and re-start it, the warning light goes out and all is well. A couple of days ago we got considerably colder weather -21 deg C overnight (-6 deg F) and after sitting overnight the warning light came on. This time I had to drive about 15 minutes and then re-start the RDX to get the light to go out. If I don't re-start the RDX, the light stays on. No other warning lights. Temperature today is right around freezing 0 deg C (32 deg F) and no warning light. We're going to have moderate weather, just above the freezing point, for a few days so I don't expect the warning light to come on. It is definitely temperature related. I don't have a code scanner, and the RDX has been extremely reliable. Just wondering if anybody has experienced anything similar and/or has any ideas of what could be causing the issue? I don't have a problem taking it to the dealer, except for time. Appreciate any comments. Thank you.

Yeah sounds like some sensor doesn't like the cold. Hard to tell without the code reader as it could be any number of them causing it. Maybe try passing by an auto parts store and ask them to read the codes. In the states some of them do it.

Thank you for your input. Pretty much confirms my own thoughts. I’m going to look into a code reader...may be some discounts after Christmas. We have an Audi A8 as well and a code reader would be a big plus on that vehicle...currently have periodic air suspension faults, adaptive headlight fault, and electromechanical parking brake fault.
