to my understanding, any rim that has a normal valvestem will accept a TPMS sensor, thats all it is anyway is a valve stem with a sensor on the back of it. i mounted and balanced these myself (road force varainced also) <--ride like butta. i managed to balance out all 4 rims with no more than 1.25 oz on each wheel with one wheel at .50 oz of weight. for 20" thats pretty damn good.
happy to be of any help and good luck!!!!!

i really didnt want to tamper with it TOO much...but i guess i have a problem with customizing. the eibach springs come out in the end of march - FRONT 1.3 & REAR 1.0. Eibach is the only spring i would put on my ride. im young so i can take the added stiffness, i bet it will handle even better!! BTW---avon m550 245/45/20 (tire rack) 20x8.5 TSW Estoril's. If you're going to swap them out for the snow, would you mind putting one of them and an OEM on the bathroom scale for us?
It would be a good start toward getting useful info for everyone interested in up-grading. Would make a good Wheel and Tire thread.
Thanks!

Didn't see in your posts if you were able to use the TPMS sensors and valve stem. Did you? or could you?

the tpms sensors that are found in each of your factory wheels contains nothing more than a sensor screwed to a schrader valve)((sort of)) that sends a signal. all you do is unscrew it and reinstall in the new wheel, just like you would with a new valve stem. i cant see how any wheel wouldnt be able to accept a tpms sensor. - if im wrong, please correct me-
im not sure if im going to lower it...and no it would not affect the SH-AWD. that is the drivetrain.
I need to tint my front windows..

There are some wheels that do not accept TPMS, as evidenced over on the TL forum, but the ones I recall being mentioned tend to be expensive forged ones, like Volks/Rays Engineering. Apparently they use an L shaped valve and the valve mounted TMPS that we have in our OEM wheels do not work, and the TPMS has to be band mounted.

Quite a few things actually. There will be exhaust, suspension, brake and ECU upgrades in the near future.
Coming from a 400whp WRX Ive been around the block a little with turbos, suspension, you name it I did it on my Suby.

I have the factory 19s, my understanding is that the TPMS system needs to be calibrated for different size rims. I did not have it done since I bought my wheels from ebay. The dealer was going to do it, but they were not sure about it. Not sure how important it is, will probably have it done at the nexy oil change.

the TPMS sensors do nothing but measure a specific air psi. parameter. they measure nothing else. i had to do only but take the sensor out of original rim and put in new one...the calibration is only nessecary when replacing a transmitter/control unit and during a PDI process. The system has no idea what wheel (18,19,20") they are in, just that it has sufficient air pressure.
if youre TPMS light is not on, there are no problems.

The TPMS system should have to be recalibrated for different tire/wheel combos for the fact that the correct inflation psi may be different depending on the setup you have.

the TPMS light comes on when the tire pressure is between 18 and 25 percent below its recommended value...<--(tire pressure on door jam) which is always a cold air pressure setting. 18-25 percent is equal to about 9 psi difference. so, if the recommendation is at 32 psi and your tire psi is 23 psi...your TPMS light will illumnate.
i will make a new thread on this if i need to.

jsut thought id let everyone know that that gap in the tire wall is almost the same as your 18s you have on now. with his set up the only difference is .2 inches. im seriously thinking about getting exactly his set up. maybe not the same rims but the same size and all. and the speedo reading is 1.8% too slow. speedo reading 60mph-actual speed is 61.1 mph
http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
what i want to know is does the size difference effect the MPG reading on the MID?

so i dont know how the heck to edit my post. i dont see any icon or button. i made a mistake on the gap measurments. i was looking at the Radius and not the Circumference. stock is 88.5in (235/55/18) 20s (245/45/20) are 90.1in a difference od 1.6 inches

DNPhotography - note that the percent error will be the same whether you compare the radius or the circumference since there is a linear relationship between the two (same with diameter). Either way, the math works out to about 1.8%.
But, read the earlier posts, the actual error is less because of the particular tires he used. tirerack.com will tell you the actual diameter and revs/mile of a tire. There is a bunch of information on their web site about where they get their specs, and in some cases it comes from the manufacturer so it might require a grain of salt, but it is more accurate than doing the math on the numbers.
Their data shows that the difference between the stock tires and the Avons he used is only a .2 inch increase in diameter, not the .5 inches that the math would tell you. That means they are only .1 inch closer to the fenders.
According to their "specs" (and calculating the true speed when the speedometer shows 60 based on the revs/mile spec):
Stock tires - Michelin Pilot HX MXM4 235/55R18 - 28.4" diameter, 731 revolutions/mile (60MPH)
typical 19" - Dunlop SP Sport 01A 245/45R19 - 27.8" diameter, 747 revolutions/mile (58.71MPH)
Cose's 20" - Avon Tech M550 A/S 245/45R20 - 28.6" diameter, 725 revolutions/mile (60.5MPH)

I leave it to people like tirerack to figure that out for me. A quick search of their 20" wheels seems to indicate that they are all 20x8.5's but the offets vary from +38 to +43 if that's any indication (which isn't to say that +35 doesn't work, but that particular source don't sell a wheel with those specs).

Looks tight!!! I like the color match. I went in a couple of weeks ago to get some 20's and got talked into 22's, my bro at wheel wharehouse just did another RDX and would not take no for an answer. The 22's eat up the gap nicely but the ride is a bit rough.... It looks good though. I will put some pics up soon.

Heres some quick pics. Looking at the pics again I guess the gap is pretty much the same as yours.... I just have less rubber and I am sure a bit rougher ride. Maybe I will grow up one of these days.

Fetchin,
Those look nice on that Whitey!
One thing to keep in mind for those wanting to go big. Big Brake Kits dont typically work for rims over 19"s. Not saying that all dont just saying keep it in mind before making that purchase if you are wanting to upgrade at a later date. Spacers and such can help but added expense.
I for one am waiting till summer when I can make that choice.

they dont look as "over-the-top" as i thought they would...cool. what you need is...
YOU NEED SIDE-STEPS!!!
YOU NEED A FRONT LIP!!!! NOW!
i think the RDX looks kinda funny without them.... whats that tire size??

I should have said they dony typically fit on rims over 19". Im not saying that all dont, Im just saying make sure you have a rim that has the proper offset and clearance for a BBK if you want to go that route. The one that will be coming out is BIG! I have found only 2 rims that will work that are over 19"s. And both are in the 3K range for 4.
Dont ask me who it is I cant say yet.

I can see what he is saying, typically, 20" wheels have trendy lip sizes in excess of 3"+ which would tend to bring spoke interference with the enlarged calipers of a BBK, and on a relatively high offset RDX, that can be an issue. but i believe you can get away with a offset in the 30's since the RDX is an SUV with largeer wheelwells than a slammed TL or TSX.
