'06 RAV4 - what do you think???
Anyone seen this yet? Wonder what price point it will come in at compared to the new CRV. I'll bet fully loaded - the new RAV will be $30k. Will Toyota move it up to compete with the RDX or do you think they'll offer a rebadged version and call it a Lexus SX or something like that....

Front end looks a bit like the forerunner which helps me take it more seriously - less of a cute ute. If they increased the backseat space then it could compete with the CRV, the current one is too small inside and out IMHO.
As for a Lexus version, it's a possibility as the RX grew considerably in its last redesign to compete more with the MDX.

The new RAV 4 reminds me of the new Nissan Pathfinder. It looks chunky.....I think I prefer the look of the RDX better. Th RDX has a wide but, fairly short stance. What is Toyota releasing news wise about their V-6? Will it be the Camry v-6? What are they going to do with the Highlander? I would guess they are shooting for 200 to 210 hp. Any higher and it will be in Highlander territory.

Having compared the '05 RAV4 with an '05 CRV. I will say that the handling dynamics of the RAV4 won me over - it handled great compared to anything in its class. However the CRV won out for the following reasons:
1) More/usable interior space.
2) $1000 less expensive with the same safety options.
3) a rear bumper.
PistonFan: thinks Mazda5 could be interesting in this class if they give it AWD.

The link is dead, but the rav4 will remain at its price point because toyota is not lacking of suvs in any category. I'd say for 06 it needs to be larger and have more power and I'd expect this at the same price of the current rav4, because toyota wants to be a leader.

Looks nice. The original cute ute grows up, but I wonder if it will move out of the space that it currently occupies. I find the current size and price point are not bad at all, and I hate the creep of new models always getting bigger and more bloated.
