you and me both... when i was in the market and bought the MR2 instead, i was looking at this 91 NSX with 30k miles for $29k... i still kick myself to this day...

Once I have the new title in hand from the dealer, it's time to choose new vanity plates. Having a horrific time choosing. I'll eventually settle on something suitable.

 

PS I'm trying to find an OEM NSX car cover. Acura doesn't make them any more, apparently. Also, I can now only get key fobs for the security system from Kenwood, which made the OEM system. Only a dealer can order.

I've been looking at the two covers they offer over the last week. They are reasonably priced! Of the two, I'd probably buy the "outdoor" cover even though the car is going to be garaged. It looks thicker and has the same soft interior that the "inside" cover is made of.

 

The 1999 NSX-T I found from Columbus, OH, has popped back up with a BIN price of $72k.

I might add, they had to pull the engine for an engine leak! The one I bought for almost $20k less (but almost 30k more miles) was a better deal in the end, it appears. Though it now appears fixed, I am glad I didn't chase this one.

Makes me think about flipping mine for about $10k over what I paid for it. Naaaaaah...

 

I have the Hrant one and test fitted perfectly, and very reasonable compared to some others. They also put the NSX logo on the front of it in any color you'd like.

I have already put over 1000 miles on the car in the last week between road trips and driving it every nice day. That's more than I drove my S2000 this summer. It has a date with hibernation coming up shortly, however.

I complained a little about the steering initially, but at speed, the steering is much better. I'm getting used to the clutch now as well. I'm also getting used to having the engine chugging behind my ear at startup. It sounds almost like someone is being punched back there until it warms up! When I step out of the car, the engine sounds like any other Honda C or J series, nice and calm.

Really warming up to the NSX now and it'll definitely be a keeper. Even so, I will find a way to be an S2000 owner as well, at some point in the future, probably in a few years.

Any ideas for six-character vanity plates? So far, NB'sNSX is winning, though hardly original. NA2NSX is surprisingly available in Ohio, but too obvious.

I like 5-spoke wheels and it turns out that SSR/Tanabe made the same Integral GT1s that were on my S2000, in a 17"-18" NSX fitment. I found a reasonably priced used set and am going to pull the trigger. It's simply a classic look for the NSX (to me).

My other choice was Yokohama/Advan Model 5. Multiple samples here: Advan AVS Model 5's, where are you at?

Next is exhaust. So hard to choose.....but I'm between Pride, ARK DT-S, and Comptech/CT Engineering. Most likely will choose Pride or Comptech as they have a more mature sound without being too raspy or loud.

These parts are going to have a long winter in storage before installation.

My opinion on the Model 5's are played out one of the more popular wheels amongst the community. Some pull it off with mods but I just don't feel them. They make the breaks look very small since it's a thinner 5 spoke. Makes the car look more Ferrari'ish and while I love Ferarri, I dont want my NSX looking like one.

For exhaust, I listened to a ton of youtube videos before choosing mine, and while I love my decision with Pride, I would suggest waiting to go to a meet and list to peoples exhaust in person. Just my $0.02

 

For 5 spoke wheels would you consider the Enkei RP03? Love how they look on the NSX.

 

The bug hit HARD and suddenly. I was looking at wheels that would strike my fancy and I ran across a set of the Integral GT1s for really cheap, much less than I bought the Integrals for my S2000, and I jumped at the chance. The GT1s are classy for a thin 5-spoke. I'm just a five-spoke guy, I guess. I got 17 x 8 +45 fronts and 18 x 9 +45, which are "conservative" NSX fitments. They come to just before the lip and don't stick out. Should improve the stance somewhat.

The RP03s above look great in those aggressive fitments.

Now I have to hunt for summer tires for the wheels. VERY slim pickings in these odd NSX sizes. Going with 215/40/17 (wider will rub) and 255/35/18 to maintain stock diameters and nearly stock stagger. Only tires in those sizes that match front and rear are Yokohama Advan Neova AD 08 R, Yokohama S Drive, Dunlop Direzza ZII Star Spec, and Kumho Ecsta LE. The Star Specs are winning so far, but I'd consider the S Drive.

 

^ S Drives are what I will be getting and highly recommended if you're mostly for the street and spirited driving.

The Neova's have an amazing tread pattern and handle great, but wear quickly and really are for track purposes. So I hear. Not to mention they are an expensive tire.

The 2nd pic is PDiddy's NSX I believe.

 

The S. Drives' tread width is a close match to ideal for my wheel widths, 7.7" front and 9.1" rear, which should sharpen up the handling.

Whole article is pretty good, but this page contains good information. In my case, I intend the car to be primarily a street cruiser, but I do plan to take it to Mid-Ohio next year for a HPDE session, so tread width is actually important for me to sort out.

 

Lol that's my car. I sold those wheels to a nsx buddy of mine a while back but I actually just bought another set a few days ago. I regretted selling them.

Glad to see you already got wheels for her Bob. Sucks it'll be locked up pretty soon because of the weather.

 

Take it from me- the S. Drives do not compete with the Advan AD08s. AD08s are on par with the Bridgestone Potenza RE-11s (or RE-11As).

The AD08s are an expensive tire, but they are a very very good tire. Due to price, I prefer the RE-11s though. I find the two have very similar handling characteristics, with the REs getting the very slight edge over the AD08s. The biggest difference though, when driven to their limit, the AD08s start to give you a bit more notice they are going to break traction, where the REs are a bit more "all or nothing". However, in both cases, the tires have to be pushed HARD. To the point where you have to actually be trying to break traction. It doesn't come easy. I've driven on both tires on a G35 with sport package (and 6mt), and on an s2000.

The S. Drives are a good budget tire, but nowhere near the same level as the two mentioned above.
