Rim and wheel spacer question

I found someone selling 19x7.5 inch racing hart c2's. They have a universal 4 lug bolt pattern and look decent. Here is my problem: the offset of the wheels are 35-38mm. Is there a way to make the ways fit my 98 3.0 cl through the use of wheel spacers? If i get 15 mm spacers will that bring me to 50mm and is that to much. If i get 5 mm to bring me to 40mm is that too little. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

you're thinking backwards.

lower offset puts the wheel towards the outside of the car.

35 offset with 5 mm spacer puts offset to 30mm. 35mm offset with 15mm spacer = 20mm offset

if you had a 50mm offset and needed a lower offset, that's when spacers come into play.

if you really do want to run the rims you'll probably have to run negative camber or roll your fenders

38 would work if the wheels were smaller. You'd have to run like -3deg camber to make this work, but with 19"s there would be so much rubbing issues and headaches that you want to consider a wheel with the proper offset.
