Hey guys every so often there is a whine coming from what I think is the fuel pump. It only happens about once a week. Kindve sounds like a turbo spooling up. It gets louder when the rmps go up. Could my fuel pump be dieing or what?

 

Not a good sign, but could be filter is partially blocked and increasing load on fuel pump. You may want to replace fuel filter. Replacing fuel pump requires removal of gas tank. It's not an enormous job, but no fun either. Pump will also whine when pulling air. Keep the fuel level up.

did you do your timing belt recently? I had a similar sound the 1st time I had my timing belt done at a Midas (big mistake) and it was tensioned too tight. Just a thought...

 

I had the same thing before my alternator died. Just a thought.

 

a whine, yeah, could be a fuel pump, or your alternator.

Do your lights dim at all? Any other problems?
