Weird Starting Problem
Hello!
I have a '97 Acura CL 2.2 5 speed Manual that used to be my father's that usually runs great. There's one specific problem: sometimes when I leave the car parked in a sunny place, I come back to find that the car will not start. Instead, when I open the door, I hear a regular clicking noise and the headlights and backlights flash on and off. I've tried jumping the car, gotten the battery checked and replaced, and still the problem remains. Sometimes, if I just let it sit, after a while, it'll start just fine. More recently, my dad figured out that he could try locking and unlocking the car with the key in the driver's side door lock to get the clicking noise and flashing lights to stop and then the car usually starts just fine.
Based on Andrew Slane's comment in this thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/1g-cl-problems-fixes-71/strange-ignition-problem-97-2-2-cl-486891/ , I figured the problem might have something to do with the anti-theft system and that a fuse might be blown so I checked the fuses, but didn't see anything wrong with the fuses related to the security system (specifically, fuse 15 in the under-hood fuse box and fuse 16 in the interior fuse box based on the manual here). I ended up checking all the fuses in the under-hood box and a fair number in the interior fuse box as well, but still did not find any fuses blown. Wondering if anyone else has any experience with similar problems or ideas about how to fix it? Thanks!
