my 2.2 cl has about 170k on it... and when I turn my car on I hear a deep whine for maybe 10 seconds... Its not the ac.... and my revs seem not to increase during this sound..
The sounds seems like it is coming from the driver side ... and the overall driving is not effected.

Its not only limited to when I turn the car on... it will turn on randomly for about 5 secs every other min for the first 15 mins.. then seems not noticiible ...

I just don't like the sound... and want to fix asap.... does anyone know what it could possible be?

and fyi... I did search... found the problem (whine)... but no cause!
oh well.. any help would be appreashed

Check your power steering belt and other belts. It may be too tight. Some say putting grease is the quick fix, but doing so also shortens the life of the belt.

This could be your ABS modulator coming on to top up the accumulator pressure. It is a buzzing/burring sound more than a whine. It will come on whenever the pressure switch in ABS closes due to low accumulator pressure. This pump may normally come on at startup in some cars and never come on at other times.

PS pumps can make a whine when they're low on fluid. Make sure you have plenty of PS fluid.

Wow, I think this will be exceedingly helpful. Only recently when it started getting worse... say... instead of just making this burring sound when my car was started... it seems to do it a little more when I drive.... if I turn my ac off and radio.. I can hear it.. otherwise I can't..... and my abs light came on.... When I bought the car... new brakes were installed.. and the fluid level looks straight.. not exactly full but no where near the min..... I searched here for a problem and assumed it was a faulty senor...

and being so that I am a nub.... could anyone direct me to a place where I could purchase a manual for my car? When I was having a 121 point inspection done on my car ... I check for a Haynes manual for my car and failed to find one...... and as of yet have ceased to persue a manual.

Get an Acura Shop manual from www.helminc.com. There are other online sources also. Far better than Haynes or Chiltons.
