Weird Brake Dashboard Light Behavior

98 3.0 CL ...

Everytime i press the brakes, my dash lights up. When I turn on my lights...the third brake light stays on. No work done to the car of any kind in the last two months. This just started happening two days ago.

Any ideas on what is wrong?

I did a search of the forum and found others had this problem but no one seemed to say what fixed it.

Do you have a manual or automatic car? what i would do is check the wiring behind the brake pedal... friend of mine had this problem that everytime he depressed the clutch his dash would light up, my money is on your brake pedal cutting into the wires behind it and shorting them out and connecting a circuit everytime you press the brakes and that back light staying on is prob on that is constantly shorting out just my

bah just read you saying that others have had this problem, might be a design flaw, but still check behind your pedal just in case

TURBO: yea sounds more like an electrical issue to me...

Mines been kinda doing the same thing....I mean, I just got my car outta the shop w/ new CV boots...but now, seems like everytime I take a right turn and tap the brakes, the [BRAKE] light comes on...and then sometimes the [ABS] light comes on too...but its soo odd because its sooo random to when they pop up...I havnt been able to pin point the problem. Im thinking I might just have some fluids that are borderline low...

What do u guys think?

that just sounds like you need to top off your brake fluid. when the brake fluid gets low the brake light goes on and that could cause a abs light up issue to, i mean think about it they are linked together fluid wise

i don't think a WSS would throw the Red brake light would it? it should just throw the ABS light and not turn off till you turn the car off and back on and the abs retests it self
