Transmission Leak

Hey. I just wanted to start off by saying I was a member here over six years ago when I first bought my 1997 Acura 2.2 Cl MT. I was never a very prominent member of the online boards hence why I forgot my password and had to create a new profile.

The Acura has been running strong. I bought it at 160,000 and it now has over 218,000. It has a bunch of minor problems but over all is running strong for its age. There is one issue I would like some input on. This spring I changed the front rotors and it being my first time doing this on the Acura ended up pulling the whole front hub off including the axle shafts. After swapping the rotors everything went back together fine and has been working fine. However recently I noticed that transmission fluid was leaking from the where the axle inserts into the transmission. I know this isn't excess tranny fluid from when I did the rotors because I have wiped it down on multiple occasions and droplets!!! keep appearing. I was wondering if any of you had any similar experiences and could possibly tell me what to be on the look out for before I start taking things apart.

Thanks

Sounds like an axle seal to me. My mechanic said they have a propensity to leak on these cars. My right axle seal was leaking transmission fluid as well, so don't know if it was necessarily something you did. Most likely is just an old seal and you may have aggravated it by getting in there and working on the axle shaft.

Thank you Ron. An email has been sent your way.

And Fab also thank-you. i was wondering if your mechanic had mentioned how difficult a job this was and if there were any special tools. No one I have spoken to in real life has actually done this.

Thanks Again

Syphers, sorry I'm not sure how difficult a job it is or the tools needed... Best of luck.
