Transmission failure

Soo I'm at 99,6xx miles on my 98 3.0 and my tranny just went out. No big bang or anything, it just started slipping really badly. The odd thing is it slips in every gear now. It'll be engaged in 3rd gear and I'll give it some gas and it'll slip into nuetral and take a few seconds to catch. My check engline light never came on and I'm not leaking transmission fluid. I guess the time has finally come.

I talked to the dealership and they said 4k for a new transmission. My car is in great shape and probably worth around 7 or 8k so I dont think I want to sell the car. What would be the best route from here?? Did it just go out because of regular ware and tare?

It may not help, but try replacing the hydraulic pump inlet screen w/ a new screen. This can sometimes improve shifting dramatically.

good luck

Transmission failure

Mine is going out too. Got a 97 CL 3.0 with 115k, only had it for 5 months now. Anyone know of a good transmission shop in Northern NJ? Or can a tranny from an accord (what year?) can fit on there?

Sorry to hear about yours man. These cars are very nice but the tranny always seem to be the one thing that kills them.
