Ok I have a 97 3.0 cl. I was driving on the interstate and overdrive went away, also the.light on D4 on my cluster wasnt working either. Got on main streets and realized car would not shift down on its own and also did not have 1st gear.

after letting the car sit while I did what I had to do I started my car, and then could not get it out of park. Had to stick key in shift release and put it into neutral and then start it.

On the way home I started losing electrical power and realized my alternator decided to break.

Now my question is would the alternator cause my trans problems or did this used trans take a big dump on me?

 

Prolly the tranz bro. These things are notorious for bad trannys. Good luck tho. Maybe take it to autozone and have them check the codes for free. Test your alternator and battery too while your there. Rule that stuff out.

 

only code im getting is p1655. Communication line to trans control module or something like that
