Exclamation Strange Idle problem when slowing down....

My car started to do this in the past few weeks. It never acually stalls, but apprears to get very close to stalling..........the RPMS drop to like 250 then she recovers and idles fine. It only happens when slowing down after i push the clutch in.

anyone know whats up with it?

Clean your IACV, change your cap & rotor and it should fix your problem. The clogged IACV causes low idling and the old distributor rotor causes high idling. Your car could also use a tune-up....

Oh, the correct idle RPM range according to the repair manual is 700-800rpm.

i think under the hood tells you what your idle is suppose to be and how to adjust it, but i recommend a seafoam job.

welcome to my world. i honestly believe it bad carbon buildup. ports get clogged and ECU cant balance your idle thru the vacuum which are restricted. then again thats what im stuck on because I have an all racing ignition and plenty on fuel pushed by the walbro.

when mine does this, i take apart the distributor and find that my igniter wire is loose and i have to tighten it back to the spot.

I used to have this happen, rpm's drop to 400 or below and back up before it stalls. Like is talked about in the other post, probably the dirty IAC valve will make rpm's drop momentarily. I did a Seafoam job and it never happened again.
