should I fear the worse (long)
I have a 99 CL 3.0 Automatic with 76,000 miles.
This morning as I was driving on the freeway, It started to rain so I turned my wipers on intermittent and they seemed a bit slow and sluggish. A few minutes later with the car on cruise control I started to slow down, then my tact and speedometer went to zero, my ABS light came on and my radio and clock turned off. I could still use my lights, and heat/ac. I did not try the windows. I turned around and came home through town thinking that if the car died it would be safer to pull over there then on the Freeway. Once in a while the tact would bounce around then go to the correct RPM then back to zero again.
When I started from a stop sign or light the car was not as smooth going into first. When I got it home I tried to re-start the car. It would not start and had a tough time turning over like when you have a weak battery, but all of the inside lights worked and seemed to have normal brightness.
I waited a few hours and went out to start my car, it started right up, everything (speedometer, tact, radio, clock) worked, (ABS light was now off) but the time was 5 hours off. I decided to drive it around the block. Right before I turned on to my block the same thing happened but this time the car acted like it was not in gear. If I let my foot off the gas it would then lurch into gear. I was able to get it back home okay.
Gulps..any ideas?

that is what the service shop just said
The tow truck driver just picked the car up to take it to the shop. It was in my driveway and he had me pull it into the street so he could get to it from the front. It started right up.
The dome light was bright, but the wipers were sluggish, and as were the windows.
