rESETTING RADIO CODE

Anyone Had Issues Resetting The Anti-theft Code On Radio-cd After Changing Battery. I Got The 5 Digit Code Last Time From Dealer, Need To Pull Radio, Get Serial Number From Accura, Etc. I See An Err-03 On Display, After Having To Disconnect Battery. I Try Entering The 5 Digit Code On Presets, But No Luck. Any Suggestions?

Try pulling the BackUp fuse (7.5A Stereo, Lighter, ECU) fuse in the under hood fuse box for 20 secs.

I had the same problem, error code and radio would not accept the correct entered code. Reset fixed the problem.

good luck

you only get three tries, and ERR-03 means three failed attempts at inputing your code. Do what Texas suggested, if not, just disco the battery again for 30 secs and try again.

Everyone,
Thanks for the input. I went to some other forum sites, including one with Honda - Accord and found this is a common theme and issue. I resolved the problem.
1 background, had a starting issue, previously reported, so cleaning-off battery cabales, etc. had created and intiated the anti=theft on the radio. I see this is an all too common issue with Honda, especi8ally as people need to replace batteries. Replacing the battery had happened before, along with anti-theft on radio. Had requested and received from dealership the code, when it was in for minor service. Note, this cost the usual $75-90 pull the battery charge, more on this scam.
2. Discovered that the radio was locked, i.e. the ERR-03 meaning 3 strikes your out, that is why it wasn't taking the code. Not sure how I got to Err-03., since I didn't notice CODE ever being displayed. After readin various forums, found I needed to RESET the Radio. Many approaches, including pulling Black Positive battery cable, but easiest is to pull the Radio Fuse in the fuse box UNDER THE HOOD. Please note, this did not reset pulling the 15 Amp batterry/lighter fuse but the 7.5 Amp Aletrnate battery Fuse.
3. I then had CODE appearing on the radion when I turned the ignition, not to start just mid switch. I entered the 5 digit code (received from dealrship and now written on service ticket and owners manual reset page) and cleared first time.
4. Please note, I also discovered the CODE opening the glove box on magiacally on right side on sticker was the same 5 digit code and probably the serial number. This gets me back to the Pull-the-radio scam. The dealership knows where to look, probably never pulls the radio. Even if they can't find this sticker, they can also get the serial number, see below on this Service Bulletin from Honda on how to retreive. With this you can get the code from Honda/Accura.

** Learning experience, thanks for everyone's input and the WEB. Also, Honda should be ashamed about this continuing scam.

RETRIEVING THE AUDIO UNIT SERIAL NUMBER
To reduce warranty and customer costs whenever an anti-theft code is lost, the audio unit’s serial number can be retrieved without having to remove the unit. To recall the serial number, follow these steps:

1. Turn the ignition switch to the accessory (I) position.

2. Turn on the audio unit. Make sure “CODE” appears on the display.

3. Turn off the audio unit.

4. Press and hold the number 1 and number 6 preset buttons at the same time, and then turn on the unit. The serial number will appear in two parts – the first
four digits followed by the last four digits, and then the sequence will repeat.

5. Enter these eight digits into DCS to retrieve the antitheft code.

NOTE: If you happen to compare the serial number on the audio system’s chassis sticker to the displayed serial number, you will find the first two digits do not match. The serial number on the sticker begins with two alpha characters. When
doing an inquiry on DCS, always use “30” followed by the six-digit serial number.
