Problem with alarm, ABS and Power steering
Problem with alarm, ABS and Power steering
Ok I have a 98 2.3 CL.
1:The alarm just wont activate, there is no chirp, the light on the door is not flashing, but when i pres the Panic Button it works. There is also 3 chirps when i press lock when the doors are open. I just brought it in at Acura and he looked at all the sensors and found no problems. Plz help!!
2:The ABS light is on and the dealer told me its both rear speed sensors no does anybody have DIY to install them?
3: Last week I was driving on the highway the whole day and when i arrived at my destination at night, I drove arround town a little and I heard a rattling sound under the hood, i stoped right away and checker it and noticed that the crank puley was warped, so I drove it back to home and then bring it to the dealer the next morning. I got home and both belt where off so no power steering and no alternator. The next morning I drove about 2 km to get to the dealer and drove it without power steering, now when im not moving, I hear a forcing sound from the power steering pump when I turn the wheels. Could it be the power steering pump that is broken? If so, could u link me to a DIY to install one.
Any help and info would be aprecited.

1) Alarm
I would suggest attempting to get a copy of the alarm owners manual. You may be in "valet mode" and simply need to exit that mode. Try online and dealer last.
2) ABS
Not sure about 98 Acura, but on the 97 Acura 2.2CL, you can extract the abs codes by shorting the service check connector (blue connector under glove box), and reading the ABS light flashes. You get a 2 second alert flash, followed by 2 sec pause, then codes are flashed as all short pauses, so RR wheel sensor is ffff-ffff = 4-4. This is for the 97 Acura. Your's may be different, but codes are typically similar. I checked car-part.com and it appears your ABS system is different from the 97 CL.
3) PS Noise
Did shop install a new harmonic balancer pulley? They should have. Your pulley rubber may have disintegrated allowing pulleys to freewheel (hence they appear cocked). Was Timing Belt work done recently? They may not have mounted the harmonic balancer pulley correctly and this can cause big time problems. Read my post on Acura TL (https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=166608) for a sad tale of what can go wrong.
Regarding PS repair, I've used the 94-97 Accord Honda shop manuals for guidance on the my 97 Acura 2.2CL. You can download this manual from hondahookup.com. The PS system is probably very simlar to yours, perhaps identical. Your best bet is a shop manual, IMO.
good luck
