power steering question

I have a 98 cl 3.0 and my power steering pump is in bad shape, it makes a horrible whine, has no power, and upon inspecting it there were little metal grindings all in and around the power steering pump pulley, the fluid is probably dirty as hell but the fluid is at the proper level, could this be the problem, or is the pump beyond repair, and if so most importantly is there any way to run the car without a power steering pump, and just use it manually?

Go get a used pump and install. You should be able to repair for <$50. Use car-part.com to find a part near your zip code.

Suggest replacing all fluid and reservoir also (trash might get by filter).
