Power Seat and Alarm Problems

I got 3 problems goin on with my 98 CL 3.0. I just got some work done on my car, where they had to unplug the battery. I'm guessin stuff got reset or what, i dunno.

The problems are :

- My driver power seat randomly moves forward on its own. This happens any time....even while i'm driving. It moves all the way forward, and then the button doesnt work and won't allow me to move back. The only way i can fix it is if i unplug the battery for about 5 min then plug it back in. then about 5 min later, the seat moves again.

- Second problem: my car's alarm randomly goes off. last night, it went off at 1 am, and then went off every 5 min till i unplugged the battery for the rest of the night. any ideas on this?

-Third: when i lock or unlock the car with my remote, the lights don't flash like they used to. any ideas on fixin that as well?

thx a bunch!

it has been documented that as these cars get older they start having electrical gremlins. for your seat problem the most i can say is move your seat into a position you will keep it at for the rest of your cars life and then disconnect the seat motor, as from what I know a new seat motor is expensive

as for the alarm read this thread and see if it helps http://www.acura-cl.com/forums/showthread.php?t=179632

and for your light problem, probably another electrical problem too. sorry don't have any solutions to that one maybe someone can chime in.

Power seat is only actuated by the seat switches. I would suspect the switches are dirty or faulty. Sometimes a good dose of WD40 can work wonders on switches. It's easy to access the switch, remove, clean, and reinstall or replace if it's truly faulty. Try a junkyard replacement for best value.

I had alarm problems on a 94 Accord EX when the battery was weak. New battery fixed the problem. Check and clean battery connections. There is a Acura manual for the alarm system that you'll need to get the procedure for changing lights, horn, or both when system is armed.

good luck

Alarm manual will probably have to come from Acura. You should check ebay, just in case. I've sometimes seen alarm manuals and alarm systems togehter.

Some alarms have a "breaking glass" sensor. These can be too sensitive and go off due to loud exhaust noise from other cars. There is an adjustment, but you'll need the manual to know how.

good luck
