Power front seat will not go back

I have searched the threads and only found one with a similar problem to mine on my daughters 98 CL 3.0. The electric seat will not move back. The switch works in every other direction. I understand that there is one motor for forward/reverse so with the seat going forward I would eliminate the motor...the issue I am guessing is in the switch...specifically the contacts. Unless somebody has other information I will try to acquire a new switch. Please correct me if I am wrong.

If you can remove the trim piece and spray WD40 onto the switch, you may be able to restore function. Similar switches (power windows) can be removed and cleaned, but I've never had a problem w/ a power seat switch. You may have to remove the seat to access.

good luck

I was able to disassemble the side trim piece and remove it along with the switch. the good news is everything seems to be intact...no loose or broken little plastic pieces and the mini-board seems ok too. The bad news is I din't have contact cleaner so I sprayed it with penetrating oil and blew it out with O2 but it didn't make a difference. I will try contact cleaner when I get to town and buy a can. Thanks for the help.

Although less likely that a dirty switch, a broken wire to the switch would cause the same effect.

External spraying may not reach into the switch contacts in the switch housing.

good luck

Well the good news is the switch worked this am....I do not know if the spraying did the trick or what. When I removed the side trim piece I was able to disconnect the piece from the seat by disconnecting the two plugs and a retainer clip that secured another wire. Once I did that you could remove the back of the housing where the small circuit board and plastic switches where located. I sprayed all those pieces and blew them out with O2. I reassembled everything and put it together with no positive results. But this morning I kept working the switch and low and behold she went back???? I would like to think I did something right but truth betold I have no idea.
