97 3.0 CL. everything was working fine. Lock the doors with fob and it would chirp, unlock it would chirp.

Was hanging up the last of the xmas lights and must have hit the panic some how in my pocket. (even on a good day and i try to press the panic I rarely get it to work unless i use my finger nail, anywho). I hit the unlock button and silenced the panic. Since then the chirps are no more.

YES i have followed the manual and hit the trunk and unlock button a gajilllion times. No chirp. If I hit the panic it still sounds normal. Hit the lock or unlock with the doors open it chirps.
But any regular lock or unlock there is no chirp or lights flashing.

any thoughts my fellow CLers??

 

it is actually the "Lock and trunk buttons" not the unlock and trunk. Hold it until the light flashes and then it will turn the beeps on or off. You can hit unlock and trunk 100 trillion times and it wouldn't change anything

 

Damn it. and i reread that most 10 times to make sure it was right. Yes i used LOCK and Trunk. it didnt do anything and yes the light flashed. Still nothing

 

oh ok, I thought you were pushing unlock and trunk and I knew that wasn't the correct buttons and may be why it did nothing. I have seen others on here say unlock and trunk before and they are wrong. I don't know what else to suggest, thought that was going to be your problem
