No Start-Security System?
No Start-Security System?
I searched on this and couldn't find anything. There were a couple of threads describing the same problem but no solutions.
My 99CL sometimes won't start. No clicking or noises at all, and the lights don't dim.
This has happened about 4 times in the 2.5 years I've owned the car. Usually it will start when I try it again about 15+ minutes later.
It's not the starter and I'm 99% sure it's the security system. For those that don't know, there is a starter disabler and a lot of components that have to work before the starter will engage.
I've looked at the service manual and the security dash light (green with key on it) is showing that everything is ok; the light flashes for a few seconds and then goes off.
So I believe that it is a relay or something that is triggered by the security system that is intermittent.
Anyone have any idea of a specific thing to check?

I wish more people would close out their thread by reporting what actually fixed the problem. So I'll do that now.
As I'd written, mine wouldn't start and since it had only happened a few times over a couple of years it was impossible to troubleshoot.
The "green key" security light would flash normally, then I could hear the fuel pump come on, the dash lights stayed on but the clock dimmed out. No other noises, no clicking from starter solenoid.
In the past, when I waited a little while it would always start but a few days ago it finally failed completely.
I'd already bought a starter so yesterday I swapped it in and now it starts right up.
The great thing is that the starter R&R only took a half hour! On the 2.3 it's right on the front of the engine and you don't even have to go underneath.
