I recently bought a 1997 Acura CL 2.2 5 speed. The car runs strong and is in great condition, but I have two problems I can't seem to fix.

• The first problem is with the ABS system. The check engine always come on after a 30 minute drive and goes off when I turn off my car. I get a weird loud sound from the engine bay for 5 seconds, I am assuming that, its the pump trying to get fluid through. I refilled the Fluid and it goes away for a week and come back on again. Has anyone experience this problem? If so is there any solutions to it?

• My second question is in regards to my driver seat. The seat goes up and down and reclines, it also goes forward but it goes forward only on one side. It does not go back, I looked under the seat and it seems I'm missing the bar and goes from the first motor on the left to the right side. Does anyone know where I can get one of these bars?

the seat problem,.. i got nothing, buuut
as for the ABS, yes,... well that depends,
every thing you say sounds like a regular prob. with these cars but 1st. is it the CEL light that comes on or thr ABS light that comes on???

in the bottom of the ABS resivoir there is an o-ring that always goes bad, then the fluid level drops mistiriously, then about a week later you start it up and there is a buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz,.... pause,... and click from the relay as the ABS light comes on cause the pump didnt prime.

i f-ing h8 ABS, my car did this and i just took out the ABS fuse, the light is always on now though, when im not lazy (i gots 12 projects, lol) i will take out the bulb, and when im really not lazy i want to remove the ABS and plumbing and install 1997 accord none ABS lines.

 

So I need to replace the O ring at the bottom of the reservoir if that the case? The ABS light goes on after 30 minutes of driving then I turn it off and when I turn on my car again it stay off unless I drive a long drive again. I can replace it with a 97 accord ABS motor? or has to be only acura CL?

 

http://www.oemacuraparts.com/ < you can try that for the bar for the seat. My wifes 95 Accord EX did the same thing your talking about with the abs. Honestly, we just never really cared to fix it but It's definately pump/module related when your getting that buzzing. Also the abs wheel speed sensors are pretty notorious for going on our cars and they are not cheap. Just remember that your 2.2 is basically a 94-97 accord parts wise. maby, i say the o-ring, cause thats what i was told by both honda and acura dealers i took it to, they might be bullshitting and this may not be your problem. the 1994-97 accords are the same platform, i dont know if the motors are interchangable but i wouldnt go used if you are going to keep it for any period of time. as time said (^), look into the relays as well.

 

thanks for the info, I will try that website and the fixes for the ABS. I have one more question I have a problem with the TDC sensor one morning the engine code came on for it and it drove like crap. I waited like 30 minutes it went away and drove normal is that a norm for the cls?

 

i cant offer any usefull advice, just that ive workrd with sensors for 7 years and they are finnicky biotches at best, out of 100 sensors made 50 work perfectly, 40 are good but fail sooner than they should and 10 suck donkey ball from the factory. sometimes due to wheather or from lack of use then lots of use of vise vers they just do funny things interminantly and its a pain cause they test ok but evey so often it fucks up for a bit,..
not really help i know but its something for the brain.
