multiple problems/questions

so i have a 97 2.2cl. i bought it with 138k, yes i know, lots of miles, but its in really good condition. anyways, the light for my rear defroster doesnt work(it flashed like twice a couple months ago), and i've been having this problem where at low end accelaration, about 2k i get a pinging noise. i went to my friends dads auto shop, he said i need a new fuel filter, but im not completely sure on that. just kinda want to verify.

on top of this all i have a cracked radiator that is consistantly leaking coolant. i was wondering if theres any aluminum radiators out there besides koyo. koyo is too much.

koyo's are like $100 shipped. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1997-...spagenameZWD1V
i'd just get the fuel filter changed, it shouldnt cost that much.

By "pinging" do you mean pre-ignition knock engine sound, or do you mean an external noise under the car such as high pitched rattle.

Pre-ignition knock is unusual for 2.2CL's, but might be caused by mis-timed base engine timing (should be 15 deg BTDC), or possibly blocked EGR flow. No EGR flow causes higher combustion temps and can cause pinging in some vehicles, but I've never encountered in Acura/Accords w/ the 2.2L engine, even though I've had EGR manifold ports completely blocked on a couple of acura/accords.

Note, there is a recall on some 97 Acuras that will provide a free emissions check and tuneup. If your's hasn't had this done, I would highly recommend it. I had it done on my 97 Acura 2.5TL and it made a big difference in engine smoothness. You get new plugs and wires for sure.

If the noise is external to the engine, and perhaps a high pitched rattle, check the heat shields on the exhaust manifold and catalytic converter.

good luck

and yes, it does sound like its coming from the engine.

oh yeah, you have an extended emissions warranty until you hit 150k/ 15yrs.
btw i would get that radiator changed out asap before one day you overheat and blow a headgasket or worse.

The Yokohoma Avid V4S might be just what you're looking for. They're great year-round tires and give an excellent ride.

i bought those tires last yr, they get great traction in hot/cold/rain and handled pretty good in the snow. they were smooth and very quiet tires. but a bit on pricey side. i paid 125 installed for each tire.

Yeah. They're a bit pricey, but tires are one thing I just can't go cheap on. And I absolutely love Yokohama. Best tires I've ever owned.

you know what, thank you for conforming with black market rules. Seriously, you're one of the few. Know what, I'm not that far from Wilmington, we should have a meet if you're interested. It's only about an hour and a half away for me, I could maybe convince 5-speed and Clpwnr to make a nice NC meet. I think we should have a all out NC meet, be it TL's or CL's, TSX's or MDX's, I'll post in the meets section.
