Ifonlyi'daknown 2.3L Probs

Hey everyone, this is my first post. But seriously, when i bought the i took it for a 10 min test drive and everything checked out fine... No problems whatsoever.
The day after i bought it, the tranny was 'slipping' and threw the check engine light. Now i'm like WTF.

So after some research, realized the tranny was a common issue. Well I've cleaned all of the solenoids screens, put new Honda ATF fluid in, and it is still doing it. I pray to my GOD that i don't need a new tranny It was all too good to be true. I love this car even with its problems. It has gotten like 15% better. SO after the fluid change and screen clean, i put 12oz. of Lucas stop slip, tranny stuff in it. ITS STILL SLIPPING and SHIFTING HARD. I can't afford a new solenoid let alone a tranny. Is there anything else i can TRY TO DO???

So far i've only changed the tranny fluid, cleaned the solenoid screens, changed oil & filter. $80 tops. so i'm still in the green.

Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

Aamco offers half down financing on a tranny rebuild with a 3year/36k mile warranty. I'm afraid that is what it's going to come to. Unfortunate but true.

Yea, i was hoping it didn't have to come down to that. But as far as rebuilding the tranny, what could i do to make it stronger and more performance oriented? Any and all information is appreciated

Why not do a manual tranny swap? The parts aren't that hard to come by since u can basically use everything from a 94-97 accord

I've really been thinking about it, AAmco quoted $1600 and never even looked inside same code keeps coming up and its the TCC, lock-up solenoid.. and if thats the case, why not just replace the solenoid for $200-$300?

But then again, at that price i should just do manual swap..

So.. i decided to call up the lady that sold me the car and just basically asked if she could help me by throwing a little cash my way, anything, out of good faith to help with this trans. And the only reason i even asked is because HER mechanic said everything was fine, no problems at all. I talked to this guy he told me this personally.. blah blah.

She said "Car was sold 'as is' God bless you" No shit? It would've been great if I'd have known it had an issue as such. Basically, what it comes down to is that i got pwned by a 60 year old lady and her 81 year old mom...
/rant

But i've decided to do a 4x3 flush with the Amsoil ATF fluid and clean the solenoid screens this weekend to see if that will fix it or alleviate most of the problem.

Worst comes to worst, i'll be out of $120... I'll let you know how it goes.

::Update::

Ok... I've drained and filled my tranny with the Amsoil 3 times, and 'wah-lah'... nothing -_- still slips

But before I drained it, i took it for a drive to heat it up... i forgot to plug in the Lock-up solenoid and began driving with it unplugged. The D4 light was flashing, it was acting like a complete dog, taking forever to get up to speed and had no power, but it was shifting so smooth... i could barely tell it was shifting! And then i plugged it back in and was revving high and shifting hard, acting like it was slipping.

I put an Ohm-meter to it and all the solenoids checked out but i have yet to the voltage test.

So, with all that being said, does it sound like i should change the solenoid before anything else? Thats $170 fix if thats the case.

Thanks guys

Thanks for the reply, but really.. if the tranny shifted fine with the solenoid disconnected, then why wouldn't it shift fine with a new solenoid? the rebuild is on the way regardless, so you are relevant. but first is the solenoid. and if youre right i'll let you know.

and i don't really see it as a waste, they would be replaced eventually.
