I hate electrical problems! Help!

I just bought a '99 cl about 3 months ago. All was well until my battery kept dying. I would have to get a jump every morning for work, but by the time I got there the battery had enough juice to turn off the car and start it 8 hours later after work. It never failed though by the time morning rolled along it would be dead again. I got a new battery yesterday and I thought the problem was fixed. The battery was dead again! Do you think that there could be a short somewhere? Is this a common problem? I do hear a humming noise from the passenger side under the dash. If you can suggest anything I'm all ears.

could just be a bad battery. could also be your alternator not charging your battery

Yup. The battery and alt sound fine since it charges and lasts through your work day. Something is pulling enough juice when the car is off that you're dead with your car sitting 5pm 7am or however long it sits at night.

dang, I knew it

I kinda figured something is drawing power when the cars off. I have noticed a humming noise from the passenger compartment under the dash. There is a black plastic box under there that has a black rubber tube running to it from the engine bay. I believe thats where the noise is coming from. What is that box and should it make the humming/whooshing sound? It happens regardless of the settings on the climate control. I don't know where to start with this problem. Never done any elecrtical work before. Should I look at grounds? Where are the grounds? Thanks for the help. These forums have saved me bundles of cash in the past, and I learn a thing or two in the process.

figured it out, kinda

I have tracked the short down to the condenser fan circuit by using a circuit tester and pulling the fuses. So anybody know where to get a wiring diagram? I would like to tackle thi one soon. thanks

There are a few websites that sell wiring diagrams for like 5.99. I didn't look too hard but from some google sleuthing I couldn't find any for free.
