How do you calibrate a CL vss
Ok I know on the more common american vehicles and early model hondas and accord the VSS uses a gear to gear assembly to produce the speed. However I noticed on my 99 CL 3.0 it uses a magnetic pickup.
So my question is how do you calibrate this type of speed sensor. I would deal with it but its off 8mph,I dont know how and dont know why but it is. I have swapped the VSS from my old transmission and still the same after clearing the ecu.
If anyone knows how to do this, who can,or what scanner is needed please chime in. Thanks

There is no calibrating the sensor. The circuit gets an induced voltage from a permanent magnet which intermittently grounds the circuit. So, there's a couple different problem scenarios. It could be the speedo gauge itself, could be some resistance in the circuit, could be the VSS itself, or incorrect VSS gap. There is a 10% tolerance in the speedo circuit though. You can check the tolerance by timing yourself. Drive at a steady 60 mph for a mile and if it takes you 60-66 seconds, then your speedo is within tolerance.
