Horrible trans problem after a drain and fill

So today I drained and filled and auto trans as I do every time I do my oil change. Only this time I started without making sure I had plenty of trans fluid. Long story short I was only able to add one quart or fluid rather than the 2 3/4-3 it takes. I apparently made the mistake to drive about 3 miles to a buddys house as he stocks Honda ATF fluid. As I had just left my neighborhood the signs occured. It started to shift hard. Thinking nothing serious of it I continued on my way since I was already halfway there. Got there and added the additional 2 quarts, went on my merry way and low and behold I got a check engine light for P0730-incorrect gear ratio. Reset the code and no more than 50 feet down the road did it throw it again.

As I stand the car drives if I disconnect the battery for about 10 minutes. If I check clear the code with my scanner it drivers horrible and throws the code immediately.

My question is has anyone ran into this issue? I was thinking I may need to bleed the system, even though its pressurized I think it may need to burp and vent out the air pockets.

The bad part is the trans was doing just fine,id hate for it to shit the bed over a lack of trans fluid for 3 miles.

Any input is greatly appreciated. Im especially interested in the fact that perhaps there is a pending code everytime I clear it that causes the car to throw it in a safety mode and keeps it in 3rd gear like its been doing. Is there an alternative method to completely wiping the Trans control module completely clean?

anyone?

edit: removed the shift solenoid and it was clean, even the screen was free of debris.

Right now I rigged up a couple jugs to act as my own type of flush. Let the return line coming off of the radiator drain 2 quarts into a jug,add 2 quarts and continue.

Sounds horrible bud. Its really too bad if you messed your tranny up for 3 miles of use... Gotta be EXTRA carefull with those trannies, any automatic trannies.

Sorry to hear, definitely sounds like you ran the tranny without enough fluid and caused some issues, I don't know what to really tell you other than take it to a tranny shop

yeah i wish i had some better news to tell you as well but doesn't seem like there is anything positive to say about your situation. Did you have some empty containers that you thought were full before you started or something which is why you even started changing transmission fluid and then not have enough to put back in after you drained it? or did you not even check to make sure you had enough before you started? I always make sure I have everything I need before I ever start any projects like this that way unless there is some unseen problems I know I will not have to make a trip anywhere to get parts to finish the job
