Help diagnos strange electrical(?) problem!!!

My 98' 3.0 CL problem started Sunday when I was driving and turned on the headlights which caused the tach and speedodometer to both drop to 0 and the radio went off. A mile or two later I struggled to accelerate from a stop light and it wouldn't shift out of first gear.

Took it to a reliable Acura shop (AH Connection in San Jose) and they replaced the battery (which I knew was on its last legs) and the positive bettery lead.

Car drove fine on the way home including several errands, but this morning after driving 5 miles or so the tach/speedodometer went to 0 when I stopped at a red light. It struggled again to accelerate from the light and would not shift out of first. It died at the next light and would not restart. I called AAA for a tow and 15 minutes later, while waiting for AAA, it started. I drove about a half a mile to a safer place to wait for AAA. When AAA showed up it started again and I drove it onto their tow truck.

Its back at the same shop, but these symptoms are strange! Anyone have any ideas???

Well idk if this has anything to do with it. But while i was driving I stopped at a red light and then i could hardly accelerate. If i pushed down the pedal hard it'd just rev. Had no problems with the radio/spedometer or that stuff. But the whole shifting thing and "slipping" as id call it. It was my tranny =[

It was the alternator

The shop replaced the alternator and it has been fine now for more than a week. It was the strangest set of symptoms I have seen. So far, the transmission is fine.

From: is everything.
Same thing happened on my accord when the green connector popped loose. All of a sudden my gauges went nuts, radio shutting on and off. My HID's were going nuts trying to turn on and making my gauges bounce because of the low voltage. Finally pulled over completely puzzled.. popped the hood and my friend found it hanging there (retaining clip was broke). Zip tied it in, started it up and away I went. But that gauge jumping is definitely voltage / alternator.
