a few issues with my car....
hey whats up guys my names greg i just bought a 1997 CL 3.0 with 104,000 miles on it.. the only thing done to it is lowering springs.. i was driving a few days ago and my check engine light came on.. i went to auto zone and the code was p1491.. another problem i was having but its gone now was my car was stalling when i would stop at a stop sign or a red light. one more problem that i have still is when the car is cold, it shifts like sh*t until it warms up.. i know thats the sign of a old tired tranny, but what can i do to make it last longer?
thanks
thanks

1. give it a tune up if you havent already. I'm talking plugs, wires, oil change, oil filter, air filter, radiator flush, the works. Unless it was recently done, do it. With 104k you dont really want to mess around. And unless you know the person who owned the car previously, you dont know if it's been done. Personally, I do it to every car I own as soon as I get it.
2. Draining and filling the tranny fluid would be a good idea. DO NOT FLUSH IT!!!
Just drain the old stuff, run about a quart of new Honda ATF through, clean off the plug, insert plug, and refill completely. Once it's full, start it, shift down to 1st, and then work your way up to park, leaving it in each gear for 10-15 seconds. Then shut off and check the level of fluid. Hopefully you'll get some more life outta you glass tranny.
good luck.

2) I agree w/ drain/replace trans fluid w/ Honda ATF. Before doing this I would replace the hydraulic pump inlet screen (under the trans fluid pan). A partially blocked inlet screen can cause poor shifting. Also you have to drain the fluid to perform this maintenance.
3) Poor running and 1) above could be related but more likely a general tune-up issue. It's always best to start w/ new plugs, wires, distributor rotor and distributor cap. Note, Acura may replace these items free, if this one-time emissions tune-up has never been performed on your car. Contact your Acura dealer.
good luck
