Whats up everyone, just wanted to ask for help about my EGR port. I just got my car back from the shop and i had cylinder misfires on 2-4 and well when i got the car back i drove it about 20 min and my check engine light came on. so i took it back and they said that my EGR port had carbon build up. i know where the port is but no sure on how to clean it, i have heard several ways and one was to remove the port and spray carb cleaner on the port itself and also down into it. i would really like to have some more guidance on this before i go taking something off and have to spend more money for someone to fix my mistake.

 

There is a DIY somewhere in these forums. Search for it. Not too familiar with the whole EGR deal.

Anyone have some tips for a 2.X where taking off the intake manifold isn't this easy?

 

The car i'm working on right now with this code is a 97 2.2, it has sub 150k miles, is it covered in a recall, anyone have a link

 

the recall covers until 150k i believe. if you search youtube for the EGR port cleaning honda accord...you should get some helpful info...thats what i did before i tackled my 97, it was a piece of cake.

some report it does...i didnt notice a diff tho...mostly just smooths out the idle and gives better throttle response. car feels like its running smoother after
