cracked airbox

my car has had a loud humming noise coming from it so i took it to the dealership and they said the airbox is cracked (how?? i have no idea) and it would cost 200 to fix it. i was wondering if the job is simple enough just to do myself and if anyone has an OEM airbox they don't need. thanks!!

I have one, but I was keeping it to put back on when I sell the car. Why don't you put an intake on it, it will probably be much cheaper.

i thought about that, but i wanted to keep everything OEM. also, i'm afraid that an aftermarket intake or airbox will just create the same loud humming noise which i don't want.

is an airbox replacement easy to do?

Can't be any harder than taking the stock one out which is dead easy. An aftermarket intake wont hum unless mounted improperly.

No prob, just get an airbox from someone else if you're really against an intake. $200 is ridiculous, hell, the airbox is plastic just get some plastic fill for a really cheap fix.

are we talking about the part on top, around where the filter is?
or below, as in, the resonator?
if it's just the resonator, fuck, take it out.
if it's on top, there's no way that thing is 200 dollars.
like doublshot said, if you can get some plastic filler, that might be an easy solution.
everything with the intake system is super easy to remove/install, so don't pay anyone to do anything, regardless of what you decide.
