CEL Help

I have a 99 3.0cl and I got my cel checked. 2 numbers came up

1- p0401-(EGR insufficient flow) what is the problem? I heard its something to do with clogging? Can I fix the problem myself? and does it need to be fix right away?

2- p1739(Automatic transaxle failure) what does this mean? and does it need to be fix right away?

If anybody know any information please post a reply

Thanks!

For the p0401
I called my local acura dealer to see if they can fix it and they said it will cost me around $1500.
Is that a reasonable price to fix this?
I heard it should cost only under 600 or less.

The EGR you can either remove and clean or get a new one on ebay for $50 and install it yourself, the transaxle is bad news, try going to a tranny shop and see what they'll charge to replace the axle

Isn't this the code [P0401] complaining about the secondary O2 sesnor? Suppose they use Acura/Honda OE ($200), it should only be 1 hour of labor ($100) at most. Or are they changing the CAT as well? Try calling around for the cost of a secondary O2 sensor.

P1739 Possible causes
  • Disconnected 3rd clutch pressure switch connector
  • Short or open in 3rd cluch pressure switch wire
  • Faulty 3rd clutch pressure switch

How much should the egr cleaning and new value cost?

and as for the p1739..is the problem actually a transaxle problem? or is it one of the problems that Nakamichi listed? the car seem to be running fine except its not as smooth as before, like when i push on gas the rpm rev up more often.

you can do it yourself for about 15 bucks. Most of the time your EGR isn't even broke, its just the clogged hole. Read that link I posted for you earlier.

I just cross referenced the code in the service manual. There's troubleshooting procedures that the technician can step through to verify if this needs to be replaced. It's a $60 part. To access it you only need to remove the battery.
