Greetings to all fellow CL owners,

I'm quite new to the CL and and have just basic knowledge in cars. But for the past 2 months or so, my CEL light has been going on and off. It didn't really bother me until soon I will have to pass an emissions test here in B.C. Canada. I had a friend with a scanner tool pop it in and it gave me these 2 error codes.

P0240 - Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold
P1259 - VTec

I'm going to guess there's something wrong with my catalytic converter, so I'll need to check on that.

But the Vtec error code I don't know what to check/do.

Any input will be greatly appreciated! Here are some pictures for your entertainment.

 

My guess would just Vtec Solenoid clogged up and Cat probably has a restriction?

the cat code is probably the p0420. could literally be a number of things. First it matters if its the oem cat or an aftermarket. almost any aftermarket cat will throw the code. if it is the oem cat, it could be on its way out, could need a nice long drive to really heat up, an exhaust leak before the cat, or even an 02 sensor problem. i would try to eliminate some possibilities and go from there. Ive been running an o2 spacer to clear the code for about 3 years now
